I'll VHM Tori Amos, "God".  This set has to be better than Rob's '94 set (a snoozefest IMHO), doesn't it?

I guess we can't hold Matt Nathanson's over-saturated by-the-numbers cover against KBCO, so I'll still give a VHM to James.

Can't disagree really, but you know, in '94 I was right in the midst of my Taiwan exile & this album sounded so good then.  My fellow ex-pat friend Glenn received no less than three copies of the tape from Stateside buddies.

BOS2 Cowboy Junkies, boy was this a KFOG staple at the time, as was the Tori Amos.  But James' "Laid" was a strictly Live 105 song, and the Francis Dunnery completely escaped me. Don't think anyone in SF played that one.

This is not the song from the Peak that I wanted to hear again.

Oh well.

"the most watched event in the history of the world"

Well, except in America where nobody gave a rat's ass (and still don't).

Smashing Pumpkins do "Landslide", which Rob played too.  Wonder if the Dixie Chicks version will show up on a 10@10 at some future date...

That's not entirely true, it didn't do great on TV, but every single match sold out, including even (iirc) a group play match between Saudi Arabia & Senegal in Dallas.

It was very interesting watching the '94 World Cup from abroad.  A whole bunch of the local expats gathered at a bar for a random drawing of teams, winner take all pot.  I remember my Irish friend giving all the Brits & Scots a hard time because England & Scotland had failed to qualify.  Everyone was deeply skeptical about how the US would do.  But when all was said & done the Aussies, Brits, Kiwis, Canucks, So. Africans, et al agreed that the US had done a marvelous job hosting, that the team had exceeded expectations and that the fan reactions were far better than they reckoned for.

Did KFOG play Storyville then?  Seems Ginger has opened & closed with unique stuff.  Best thing about her near past sets.

That was new to me too.  I think KFOG did not quite have the "Triple A" format down at that point.

I assumed this was about the OJ chase until reading further.  BTW, do we know what *is* the most watched event?  Wouldn't be Di & Charles's wedding?
