Here's a My 3 Songs triple play to inaugurate the forum.

The Who - Song Is Over   
Sting - Love Is the Seventh Wave
Paul McCartney - Nineteen Hundred Eighy Five

dos:
James Brown - Papa's Got A Brand New Bag
Johnny Horton - Battle Of New Orleans
America - Ventura Highway

Warren Zevon - Werewolves Of London
Bob Seger - Old Time Rock And Roll
Beach Boys - Kokomo

not sure on this one... the Seger & Beach Boys songs were in Tom Cruise movies (Risky Business & Cocktail, respectively) but I can't tie in "Werewolves" with Tom Cruise, and I can't remember if it was used in Amer Werewolf in London to make it a film trifecta.

Well, if that's true, then the connection is cocktails.  I didn't know about the Cocktail movie, but the Werewolf was "Drinking a Pina Colada down a Trader Vic's"  and there were mentions of cocktails in Kokomo as well.

tres = Mike, but you talked yourself out of it.  You mean you really don't know what movie Tom Cruise danced around to Werewolves of London in?  Hint:  someone else won an Oscar in this film.

Hmm... that means either Color of Money or Rainman and it's been a while since I've seen either.

then you gotta watch Color Of Money again sometime soon.  Newman is fantastic (although he was better in The Verdict, but how ya gonna beat Ben Kingsley's Ghandi that year?).

In the flick, Fast Eddie, Vincent & Carmen walk into a joint only to discover that the great Grady Seasons is in there.  Fast Eddie tells Vincent to take a dive so that the odds on him in Atlantic City will skyrocket, but when Vincent sees that Grady is a real condescending SOB he gets his Irish up & goes off, making shot after shot while dancing around the table to "Werewolves of London", even miming to the 'and-his-hair-was-perfect' line.  Of course Fast Eddie cuts him off afterwards & they don't meet again until Atlantic City.

One of these days when Dave plays a 'strictly instrumental' set we gotta get him to play the Knopfler tune from this soundtrack called "Two Brothers And A Stranger" named for one of the scams they play in the film.

Ah, now I remember.

Newman was great, but he had been given an honorary Oscar the year before, and I really thought Bob Hoskins deserved the award for Mona Lisa. But sentiment will out.

ok, no takers. all three songs reference the album title in the lyrics:

Sorry, I didn't know any of those, but I have a list of over twenty songs in that category.  Now it'll be more like 25.

It just occurred to me what we can call such a non-title title track: an Alison (after the Elvis Costello tune).
