A little Style Council is just about right today.  "You're The Best Thing"

That Neville Bros version of "Fever" didn't really do anything for me.

Guilty Displeasure "Nobody Told Me",  I just don't think the lyrics are nearly half as clever as John seems to.

"They're starving back in China so finish what you've got."  I mean that was a pretty glaring & innacurate stereotype back when he was in prep school, why trot it out now?

Guilty Displeasure: Chrissie almost-but-not-quite rescuing one of the worst soul lyrics of the '70s.

On the other hand, Chrissy's cover of the Persuaders remains a classic.

Really?  I thought this was one of the most daring lyrics of the early 70's.  AMG says it's the first chart-topper to deal with domestic violence.

Its a thin line between love and hate
Its a thin line between love and hate

Its five oclock in the morning
And youre just getting in
You knock on the front door
And a voice sweet and low says
Who is it?
She opens up the door and lets you in
Never once asks where have you been
She says are you hungry?
Did you eat yet?
Let me hang up your coat
Pass me your hat
All the time shes smiling
Never once raises her voice
Its five oclock in the morning
You dont give it a second thought

Its a thin line between love and hate
(repeat)

The sweetest woman in the world
Could be the meanest woman in the world
If you make her that way
You keep hurting her
Shell keep being quiet
She might be holding something inside
Thatll really, really hurt you one day

I see her in the hospital
Bandaged from foot to head
In a state of shock
Just that much from being dead
You couldnt believe the girl
Would do something like this, ha
You didnt think the girl had the nerve
But here you are
I guess action speaks louder than words

Its a thin line between love and hate
(repeat)
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."

Had it been about a guy beating up his woman, perhaps. But here's this guy moaning about how this chick put him in the hospital because he came home late one too many times...  I mean, maybe it's because I was a white kid living in a whiter-than-white environment at the time, but the song struck me as immensely silly.

ETA: Dunno where you got the lyrics you posted, but the Persuaders orig version was sung by a guy: "Here I am in the hospital", not "I see her in the hospital"
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

BOS2 Specials AKA

I just figured this out earlier this year, but it went like this, first they were called The Special AKA (singular), then The Specials (plural) then half the group split off to become Fun Boy Three, and the remainder recruited a new vocalist & went back to being The Special AKA.  The last incarnation made this song.
"Music is the Earth, People are the Flowers, and I am the Hose."
