So this post-Floyd tune could be Styx--or it could be one of those Canadian semi-prog bands that came after Rush like Triumph. Betting it's the latter.

I believe it is, and I was just thinking, "this singer sounds like 'Geddy Lee Lite'"

What kind of world will they find? Oh, to have a reasonable man in the oval office.

I forget who does this disco "Harmony" song -- a Narada, for sure, I don't remember hearing it back in the day, and I was pretty tuned into the genre.

Been away as the company frowns on streaming media. I'm the Lone Mac here, so I get away with it (sort of)

ETA: Per the Top 40 Hits site, there were two songs called Hold On that charted in '79--Ian Gomm's (TANC pt. II) and this one. And yeah, it's Triumph.

Which brings up the question: will we get the Hold On twin-spin?

Nah.

So instead we get the Rockpile twin-spin. Gaz must be grinding his teeth right about now.

BUT: Dave Edmunds--also a Welshman.
Let's get right to it.

"Girls Talk" doesn't bother me nearly so much as the others, and I rather like "Cruel to Be Kind."  I think I just have a reflexive aversion to rockabilly that is occasionally offset by Lowe's poppier instincts.

I know it's a Katrina but I'm still a sucker for Cruel to be Kind. Can't help it.

And in the TANC column, I was doing some research on Wales last night (we're going there next month) and found that Ian Gomm has been living there for like 20 years. And that he cowrote this song with Nick. Ya learn something every day.

more for the tanc. i was trying to conjure up ian drury last night for a reference, and my comrades and i were sidetracked on a rather long ian gomm conversation.

Sorry I missed the set while "Drivin'" to Sacto, but y'all should know that I picked up a used, out of print copy of Ian Dury's greatest hits on University Ave in Seattle last Tues.

I don't see any comments about this.  I've got a cold, and was napping during this, but jeez, the guitar licks in this tune are pretty hot if you ask me!
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!
