They spilled the beans early.

Well, we actuallly got 2 decent '88 sets last week. Can Ginger top "Alphabet St" or "People Have the Power"?

nice start with Graham Parker "... Start a Fire".  Ginger promises Tracy Chapman -- "Baby Let Me Hold You" would be preferable to "Fast Car".

Not likely, if we have to expect both Tracy & Melissa, but then again maybe Ginger will dig deep for something less heard.

But you can't go wrong leading off with "Get Started, Start A Fire", probably my favorite song of this year.

Oh, and btw Ginger, before it became the Big 12, Kansas & Oklahoma belonged to the Big 8, not the Big 10.

Robben Ford, but I had no idea this next one was Keith Richards until I checked.

You are totally right.

She got nommed for Atlantic City (& deservedly so) in '82, which is when I fell in love with her.  Then had to wait ten more years for her next nomination, for Thelma & Louise, which started a run of 4 noms in 5 years culminating in her win for Dead Man Walking.

She remains one of my favorite actresses of all time.

she supposedly is going to play Cindy Sheehan in an upcoming flick... not sure if it's going to be theatrical or cable (sounds like it should be an HBO or Showtime thing)

I should never have doubted.  That was a great track from TC, and now we get live ME, "Watching You", from their inaugural Studio C session.

Thank you Ginger!

I was just thinking how great it was the Ginger got through tune #7 without a clunker (in a year that is full of landmines), but then I suppose Crowded House is simply inevitable.  Alas.

ETA:  According to my initial analysis of Dave's set lists, 1988 is BY FAR the year with the most repetition.

So here's a VHM for Depeche Mode "Behind the Wheel".

LOL! Segue of the DaY: Sigourney Weaver in Gorillas in the Mist into " I Wanna Be Like You", Los Lobos.

Ms Weaver was one of the rare actresses to be nommed in both lead and support categories in the same year -- and not win either one.

ROTFL!  That was the Segue of the Month!! from Sigourney Weaver saying, "The be perfectly frank, I think they are a little confused about my species" to "I Wanna Be Like You".

There's also a killer version of "Cruella DeVille" on that album, by the Replacements if memory serves.

I think Sigourney was the second actress to do that, & I remember that last year Jamie Foxx became the first actor to do it.  But of course he won in the Leading category.

Jessica Lange (Frances and Tootsie) was another. There are more, I think... generally if you're nommed for both you win one or the other. Sigourney's one of the few who lost both.
