LNG-ing for a bit, and here's Elvis, "If I Can Dream", his big comeback song, which was completely ignored in NYC. I remember hearing it late at night on CKLW and wondering why nobody in NY was playing it.

BTW, Gaz sent me this link the other day:

http://www.kurthanson.com/archive/news/031706/index.asp

it looks like we may not be able to listen to CG or Smooth FM (and possibly VIP too) after April 1st. I'll be lost without Greg Edwards.

It sure f***ing does

I've been VIP-ing today, since Judge on KPOO has been in a jazz mood (dunno if this is a permanent change in his focus or just temporary). Here's Diana & the Supes covering "Stormy" -- followed by Marvin covering "Sunny"!.  VIP just continually unearths amazing stuff and I'll be VERY upset if we can't hear them anymore.

Oh damn, I'd've loved to have heard that.

So Mike, you've been in contact with one of the Capital Gold, right?  Or Beej maybe?  Wondered if someone could email one of those stations to find out their plans/thoughts/solutions on the matter.  I don't know anyone at CG or VIP, m'afraid.

I emailed Greg Edwards of CGSS today; I don't know if he checks his mail during the week, so we may have to wait til Fri for a response.

VIP may actually (I hope) keep streaming since they have American air talent like Shannon and Bobby Jay, who've been promoting the thing to their former 'CBS-FM listeners.

Sonny Charles & Checkmates LTD, "Black Pearl", Phil Spector's last '60s masterpiece.

Followed by the Blow Monkeys "It Doesn't have To Be That Way", their sound-alike follow up to "Digging Your Scene".

Been checking out Radioio's 70s channel via iTunes (although you can stream direct from their site, I believe). Here's a list of what's been played in the last hour or so--kind of like DDT but with somewhat deeper tracks (like the Thin Lizzy or the Dregs cuts):

previously played on radioio70ssm
Neil Young - Drive Back
George Thorogood - Cant Stop Loving
Janis Joplin - Down On Me LIVE
Dixie Dregs - Leprechaun Promenade LIVE
Kinks - Stormy Sky
Thin Lizzy - Warriors
Tom Petty - What Are You Doin In My Life
Enhanculin - Call 800 480 9362
EpiClear - FREE Sample at 800 608 9502
Jeff Beck - Come Dancing
Traffic - Heaven Is In Your Mind

The one catch is they play ads (see the two entries prior to jeff beck above) unless you pop for a Soundpass at $5/mo or $50/yr.

Here's their URL:
http://radioio.com/radioio70s.php#

ETA: Aside to Lightnin' Rod--noticed that among their rotating "featured albums" on the search player is none other than Axe Victim, although I haven't heard anything from it yet. Heard Mott the Hoople's Sucker though, which I don't think I'd heard in a good 10 years.
Let's get right to it.

Tuning into VIP Radio while I pitch stories.  Now playing: George Benson's greatest love of all, long before Bobby Brown found an even greater love inside of Whitney.
