None of us listened, so here's what we missed:
Pete Townshend - Rough Boys
Queen - Crazy Little Thing Called Love
Bob Seger - Against the Wind
Bruce Springteen - Devil with the Blue Dress
The Rolling Stones - Dance Part 1
Billy Joel - It's Still Rock & Roll to Me
The Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime
Survivor - Rebel Girl
Reo Speedwagon - Keep on Loving You
Manfred Mann - For You
Not bad, actually -- the Survivor track's a breakout, no? And how often does Dave play REO or MM's "For You"? (answer: not very)
Survivor is not only a breakout, I was previously unaware that they even had a release back in '80. I was tipped to them during Spring Break '82 while in LA visiting my cousin Heidi's best friend Colette (with whom I'd struck up a brief romance). Her brother came back from one of their shows all raving about them, and nobody else in the room had even heard of them before.
Dave never plays REO, but while unhappy about the neglect of their early work ("Riding the Storm Out" would sound awesome one of these days), I can't say I'm at all sad that he doesn't play anything after
...Tune a Fish.
Dave likes MM's "Runner" but he misses many other great tracks from their late 70's/early 80's LP's such as "For You". I'd love to hear the version of "Quinn The Eskimo" from the
Watch album.
