I'd really like to hear Bram Tchaikovsky today.  Nick's set the tone for Power Pop For Now People, and I wanna be one of 'em.

Near-WOS to ZZ Top.  He sounds like he's in outright pain on those vocals, and not in a good way.

ZZ Top: Impure Pop for THEN People.

Indeed, a 12-string-guitar trifecta of Bram Tchaikovsky, the Shoes, and The Records would make my week. Too much to ask for, I'm sure.

But.. have you heard about the Lonesome Loser?

OTOH, I think I'll give BOS to the LRB.

And then I'll stop acronymizing everything.

My friend Dave* ruined this song for me by singing it:

Doctor, doctor, give me the news
I got a bad case from lovin' you ...

My memory is that "Girl of My Dreams" did not actually use a 12-string, but had overdubbed 6-strings, intentionally out of tune to sound like a 12-string.

since that was so long ago, I could be wrong, but I seem to remember them being interviewed on the radio at the time.  Nonetheless, a great song.

I did not know that. Still, it's the sound they were after, and it was very prevalent that year, in the Records' "Starry Eyes" (can't believe that's not a Morey fave), The Shoes' "Too Late" (ditto) and The re-formed Searchers' "Hearts in Her Eyes". A wonderful year.
