Started with Brother Louie, then Dylan's Knock, now Stevie's Too High.  Nice but not inspiring or inspired.

It's so hard to be a BOS in the city.  Fortunately, the mighty Raspberries follow Broooce with the majestic "Tonight."

I'm glad you ID'd; the voice seemed familiar enough, but I've never heard this song.

I, for one, don't think Innervisions was necessarily a better album than Talking Book.  I go back and forth on that.

from Aladdin Sane, one of the great pun titles, and I've certainly never heard it played on the radio.

a good argument there.  Innervisions was the album that finally made the mainstream realize he was a genius, I think.  So it gets the edge from most people because more people have heard it all the way thru -- they mainly know TB for the hits.

Mark, maybe you can solve a mystery for me.  There's this song in church called El Shaddai, by one of those big time Christian songwriters, and it just sounds exactly like a Stevie Wonder song, but I can't place it.  I'm not knowledgeable enough about Stevie.  Ideas?

If it really sounds like this MIDI file -- http://www.walkthroughlife.com/midis/christian/elshaddai.htm -- then the melody is very, very similar to Stevie's "A Place in the Sun."

is this it?

if so, the melody sounds like Roy Clark's hit "Yesterday When I was Young".

yeah, the MIDI makes it sound even suckier!  I have the sensation that these are Stevie Wonder type of melodies and chords.  Since I am just a bass player, and a harmonic idiot, I can't explain it any better than that!
