If any of you are doing the YM thing, pass along my  thanks, from a Class of '68'er

see my post above.  Did I not have that conversation with you after seeing Rent, about Jesse L Martin being an ideal candidate to play Mr Gaye?  Turns out I'm a genius.

It’s getting near dawn,
When lights close their tired eyes.
I’ll soon be with you my love,
To give you my dawn surprise.
I’ll be with you darling soon,
I’ll be with you when the stars start falling.

I’ve been waiting so long
To be where I’m going
In the sunshine of your love.

I’m with you my love,
The light’s shining through on you.
Yes, I’m with you my love,
It’s the morning and just we two.
I’ll stay with you darling now,
I’ll stay with you till my seas are dried up.

Chorus
---------------------------------
Dried up seeds makes me think of the Lemon Song,
Squeeze me baby, till the juice runs down my leg.
The way you squeeze my lemon, I'm gonna fall right out of bed.
Sharks bleed teal.

I'm sorry, I just can't quite figure out what he's singing about.

It's "dawn surprise". And I thought it was "till my seed's all dry, love"(?)

it is 'Dawn' surprise, but that actually works better.

any of y'all ever heard "Boys Want Sex In the Morning" by Uncle Bonsai?

Smokey & the Miracles' "If You Can Want" definitely isn't a bust-out: I remember buying a Miracles GH at what was then the Wherehouse on Kearny specifically because Dave played that song and I was blown away by it.  Then I hear "Come 'Round Here (I'm the One You Need)" and was blown away even more.

damn, Foghead could chosen obscure Quicksilver, or JS "Crown of Creation"... but he chose CCR "Suzie Q".  Time for CGSS, then.

Missed really hearing Smokey at work so replay sounds mighty fine.

In the very early 80s I drove up to Tahoe in the snow to see Smokey at one of the casinos. Loved it. What a lark that was.

Saw him mid-'80s too -- in NYC at one of the Summer Music Fests at one of the Piers.  It was a touch Vegas-y,  but he still had the voice.

Hearing the S&G reminds me I meant to say this during the AM version: anyone else familiar with Albert Hammond's "Air Disaster" (early summer '74)?  I recall it seeming quite influenced by "Save The Life of My Child".

BOS Revolution!

You know, I really like this song but I like the fast version a LOT better, in fact it's one of my very favorite Beatles songs...

Anyone else have an opinion about Revolution slow vs. fast?

I probably prefer fast, but when the slow one came out it made the lyrics more discernable.

Totally. fast is on the B side of Hey Jude but this is sure easier to understand.  shooby doo, allright

Set sounds fantastic on the replay.

Hearing "Dance to the Music," I realize how much I take it for granted: I have to think that when people first heard that on the radio, there was a nationwide "oh my god what the fuck was THAT?" effect.  There's so much that sounds so different from everything else that went before.  And now and for future generations, it's merely one of those anonymized party songs that get sung in hypermedley form at the end of Shrek.  And that bugs me.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Is it just me, or did Dave increase the speed of "I Love You"'s rotation by about 5-10%?  I swear it's going faster than the version I have.
