Attention Geoff (and Ali), the ultimate Deadhead job:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/scavenger/detail?entry_id=51402

A friend of mine in Massachusetts is perhaps uniquely suited for this - he's a longtime huge Dead fan (but not Deadhead) and pop culture/history knowledge vacuum with a library science master's.  I've forwarded him the info - and wonder if his wife would consider the move if UCSC agrees he's a perfect fit.

Funny, I know a number of people with advanced library sciences degrees, and I know a whole lot of Deadheads, but I don't think I know any Deadheads with advanced library sciences degrees. Hell, I wish *I* had the proper education--I'd think about it. ('Cept for this cheese thing we got goin' on.)
Let's get right to it.

I have a friend in NJ who is a Deadhead and indeed HAS a library science degree!

The Best & Worst Jobs of 2010 from the Wall Street Journal.

Makes me consider going back to being a Historian (#5), and anyone know any Philosophers (#11)?

Having just mentioned my Uncle Dave on this morning's 10@10, I note that Dairy Farmer is #197 out of 200.  My cousin Adam is taking over the farm in Illinois, and my cousin Rob (older brother of Jerome that you've heard tell of) is also a dairy farmer, in S. Dakota.  :-\

And according to this list that's only one of the 35 jobs worse than NUCLEAR PLANT DECONTAMINATION TECHNICIAN

Thanks for the good wishes. I need them all. I'm stressed knowing that as I miss work tomorrow, it will result in a final written warning for having an attendance issue. Yes, being sick is an attendance issue. You are allowed three sick days but they count against your attendance. You're expected to go to work when ill. This will be the last warning and then termination with the next offense. wtf! Makes me feel like a little kid being punished for BS.

I have an interview at 11:00 today, so wish me luck, too.  It's in Mtn View, so I'll spend be listnening to 10@10 in the car on the way there.

How did yours go? Mine went well. I have been asked back to meet decision makers on Friday morning. Friday is my day off but they asked me in at 7am. ay yi yi. I am being written up for missing 3 hours of work on Monday. One more time away from work before Mid March means termination. mofo's. I went to work today with a pretty bad cold, stuffy/runny, sneezy, coughy, fevery. Hope they all get sick. Wonder if my issues are stress related? Now you know why I get away to relax at the Tank and try to get tanked.

Mark, call me in the morning. I go to work at 11:00.

Excellent news, Mark!  But remember - you owe it to yourself to only say yes if it's a situation you'll be happy in.  I hope it is.

Ali and Jim, continued wishes for good luck in your respective searches.
