WLNG Nugget o' the Day: Tom Jones, "Love Me Tonight". Yowsah!

By the way, Mr Jones was made a knight this weekend.  (oh, what a knight!)

got a tip on this station from radio guru Sean Ross (thanks, Gaz!):

http://www.wklu.net/home.php

it's a "Jack"/"Max" -like Classic Rocker in Indianapolis. Their schtick is something like, "we play everything, but we don't play ridiculously out-of-format songs just to prove how all-over-the-place we are".

They're also independently owned and play limited commercials. I tuned in and after some obvious "classic" fodder like CCR & Supertramp, they floored me by playing Melanie "Candles in the Rain" and Thin Lizzy "Jailbreak" back-to-back.

And here's EJ's "LSD" -- kudos to Dr. Winston O. Boogie!

now they're playing REO Speedwagon, "Golden Country" (?) which I have never ever heard before. But I'll bet Mshray has.

CGSS remembers Sweet Lou Rawls w/ "Lady Love" and "Clean Up the Ghetto".  "the rats, the roaches, and the waterbugs... they was HUSTLIN', baby!"

WLNG Nugget o' the Day: "Give Him a Great Big Kiss" When I say I'm in love, you best believe I'm in LUV, L-U-V!

I luv the Johnny Thunders remake of this one.

"he's good-bad, but he's not evil."

Nugget #2: Johnny Rivers' pop cover of Buck Owen's "Under Your Spell Again".  Delightful.
