Friday Dec 16--its--holy crap, it's 1966!!!!
« on: December 16, 2005, 10:02:20 AM »
A birthday request from Foghead Adrianne Marcus. Which, coincidentally, is my mother-in-law's name, but she wasn't born in 66. And it's not her birthday.

ETA: TOTHC is Little Latin Lupe Lu, a song I once saw Bruce Springsteen cover.
Let's get right to it.

This song makes me wonder HOW GOOD the Beach Boys could have sounded if they'd had a producer like George Martin.
Now I'm eight bits...

Any guesses as to who the "black power" speech was? Mike would probably know, but I'm gonna say Eldridge Cleaver or Bobby Seale.

Where's Mike when we need him? These last two songs are stumping me--the first one I know I've heard ("they make a boy and girl say they feel so fine") but the second one ( a very white-bread vocal group singing "No body but you") is a total stumper.

Now this I can relate to: Shapes of Things, the Yardbirds.
Let's get right to it.

In the R'n'R HoF they have an interactive computer-based feature on the "500 Songs That Shaped Rock & Roll".  "Shapes of Things" was the sole Yardbirds entry.  I was quite disappointed that "Heart Full of Soul" wasn't included.
