April 12th 2017: it's... 1971!
« on: April 12, 2017, 09:25:30 AM »
2 nice rarities (Ike & Tina and Stoney & Meatloaf!) plus 8 ridiculously well-worn staples -- "Bobby McGee" AND "Brown Sugar" AND "Won't Get Fooled" AND "Maggie May" in one set? Really?

Enjoying Rare Earth. It's been a while for "I Just Wanna Celebrate".

Don't think I've ever heard Ike and Tina doing "Get Back". Good stuff.

Had not heard the Stoney & Meatloaf tune in decades -- could easily have been covered by Rare Earth or Ike & Tina.

Ain't no loooooong version of "Won't Get Fooled Again". There's just The Version.

Ha!  The 45 edit is pretty brutal. But having heard the song SOOOOO many times, I'm actually kinda relieved when a oldies station plays the short one.

Heh. I thought the same thing. There's the album  version (aka The Version) and then there's that crappy hacked-up single edit.
Let's get right to it.
