13 March 2017: it's... Peter Finch's Birthday Choice (1992)
« on: March 12, 2017, 08:46:53 PM »
Was wondering if this would be another of the promised Women's Month sets, but no -- it's Peter's B-day and he gets to curate a year of his choosing. He chooses '92 for some reason (year he started at K-FOG?) And... he's as LN-prone as DW.

(Friday will, I suspect, be a St Pat's thing -- whether that means Irish artists, "Luck" songs or "Green" tunes remains to be seen.)

The leadoff tune certainly isn't a FF. Not sure I've heard it before. It's odd.

Oh dear, two Turkeys in the same non-Turkey set! "Achy Breaky Heart" is beyond the pale for me.

Yeah that and the closer are rarities if not bustouts.  The rest, however...  and yeah Peter loves his cheeze.

Just starting to listen now. Can't say I've heard the TOTHK either (it's They Might Be Giants borrowing liberally from The Lion Sleeps Tonight). But I am expecting to hear some Barenaked Ladies in here somewhere (Peter loves them, and I think '92 sounds about right to cue up at least one of their songs).
Let's get right to it.

Yep, not surprised that the BNLs make an appearance, along with a number of other fairly bland picks (Toad, Lemonheads, TMBG, 10K Maniacs), and Sir Mix-a-lot notwithstanding.

Peter Finch has to be the whitest guy in San Francisco.
Let's get right to it.

LOL.  Did they say why he picked 1992? Was it indeed his first year at KFOG?  I didn't start listening to  their morning show until 1998 since I had been a huge Alex Bennett fan and stuck around when he was replaced by Johnny Steele.  But when Live 105 brought Howard Stern in, that's when I finally switched.
