23 Sept 2016: it's... Weekend Songs

Starting off pointlessly with Loverboy. He quoted it in the intro which seemed like enough, but no, he had to remove all subtlety and play "Working for the Weekend". Oh well.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about. Queen's "Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon".

My first thought was, "is this the 'weekend' set he posted the list for on Labor Day  but didn't actually play?"  And sure enuf that's just what it is.

Ahh, I see. I haven't seen the list, so let me be surprised :-).

I still have a soft spot for Elton's paean to getting sloppy drunk.

"Lookout Weekend" is wayyyyyyyy too long. They should drop all the repeats in this one.

Vandenberg? I was thinking how much the song sounded like a Van Halen tune, and even their name sounds like a Van Halen ripoff. Never heard of 'em!

DW and DM are the only 2 guys in the world who think Debbie Deb is some sort of underappreciated talent.  DM at least was dancing in clubs when she was getting play. I don't think DW is old enuf to have been there.

Not too bad a set. BOS tie to the Queen and Beat Farmers tunes, but yeah, what's with all the love for Debbie Deb? The Cure and Loverboy tunes were the most obvious picks of the set, but I give him props for avoiding others like the Kings and the Easybeats (great songs though they are). This EWF song ain't bad either.
Let's get right to it.

Negative points for the Sublime version of Smoke Two Joints. KFOG pretty strictly played the Toyes' version, did they not?

ETA: Ah, I just heard the backsell, where he says KFOG would alternate between the two. Still, for purists, the Toyes is the only choice, no?

Toyes, afaik, got played at least 75% of the time, if not more.
