Hot Chocolate is kind of like 80's prequel music

Ditto "Pop Muzik", which I always think of as an '80s tune.

Sultans of Swing is a BOS for me, perhaps an LN for Mike, but I'm always conflicted, as I remember having pizza at Pirro's on Taraval with friends on NYE 78-79, and I thought SoS was one of the best of '78.  Yeah, I know...

Well, I'd completely forgotten that "Long Live Rock", orig from '74, was re-released as a single in '79.  Points for music-geekiness in an otherwise standard set (so far)

Kiss, "I was Made...", one of my fave bits of late-'70s cheese. BOS3.

"Roxanne". Which is the name of today's "curator". Heh.

Bonus track: "Good Girls Don't" -- dirty LP version!

Fired it up a few minutes ago, I'm on tune #3 so far, and we have one semi-rarity (Every 1's a Winner) and two pretty strong FFs (ELO and Dire Straits).

This version of "Sultans" sounds a little reverb-heavy to me, compared to what I'm used to.
Let's get right to it.

Yeah, I think it was rereleased in conjunction with "The Kids Are Alright."

Pop Muzik: certainly an artifact of its time, but not a departure from the FF-fest.

So here's the list. Not a bad set, didn't get into the new wave that was beginning to bubble up on the charts too much. Liked hearing the Zappa and Blackfoot (wasn't there a Van Zant family connection with this band?). (Coincidence: When I saw the Who in Oakland in spring of 80, Blackfoot was the opener.) And speaking of the Who, DW kinda screwed up on his pedigree of Long Live Rock. Yes, it was released on Odds & Sods, but that came out in '74 (as Mike pointed out), not 79 as he stated. The rerelease in '79 was, as I mentioned, in conjunction with The Kids Are Alright, which was one of the first (if not the first) rock docs of note. </geek mode>

1979
ELO - Don't Bring Me Down
Hot Chocolate - Every 1's a Winner
Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing
M - Pop Muzik
Jacksons - Shake Your Body (Down To the Ground)
The Who - Long Live Rock
Zappa - Dancin' Fool
Blackfoot - Train Train
KISS - I Was Made For Lovin' You
Police - Roxanne
Bonus: The Knack - Good Girls Don't
