15 Aug 2016: it's... 1983
« on: August 15, 2016, 10:27:26 AM »
Looking at the list, I'll say "this is a little more like it" -- a couple of nice New Wave semi-rarities, and a Pop duet surprise that appears to be a bustout.

Tho' I'd've preferred something deeper from the Billy Joel and Stones  LPs :)

BOS uncensored Vacation clip! (preceded by DM saying "we're not on the radio -- so we can do whatever we want!")

I'm listening now. Bizarre song sounding something like "No Chance" playing. Never hoid of it.

The WTF stream is not functioning again today, so am checking this one out now. Our second visit to '83 with DW.

I'm cool with BJ as the TOTHK, this one has always been a guilty pleasure for me. Nice nod to the Four Seasons.
Let's get right to it.

Human League's "Mirror Man" sounds OK today. I wonder if he means Michael Jackson  ;)

I think this is Hayzi Fantayzi (sp?). Kind of a novelty hit imo, but haven't heard it in ages. This has to be one of the New Wave rarities Mike was referring to.

Burning Down the House pretty much completely LN. Lots of interesting songs on that album that he could have chosen. Oh well.

Nice to hear this Buckingham tune, but I could swear I've heard it somewhere else not too long ago. Did it show up in one of DW's theme sets recently?

ETA: Yep, it  was also in the Summer movies set he did in mid-July. So less than a month ago. Does that make this the first repeater we've heard on the Soundwaves 10@10?

Indeed, and interestingly, it made one appearance on KFOG -- during the Renee era, incredibly.

And I'm surprised to see that the Flirts "Jukebox" is also a bustout -- coulda sworn AL played it at least once.

I would have thought so too, but it does not seem to be.

Nice finish to the set with the Sparks/Jane Wiedlin duet.

Listening now -- this sure beats The Arrow's '83 set earlier this morning.

and a Pop duet surprise that appears to be a bustout.

Patti Austin / James Ingram "Come To Me" -- very nice!
