31 Aug 2015: it's... Local music from the '90s
« on: August 31, 2015, 07:39:22 AM »
Wondering if AL pre-recorded a 5th "local" set before leaving for the East Coast.  If not, will we get a "year" rerun or a local scene encore?

Last nite, folks were posting requests on her FB page, apparently oblivious to the fact that she's been off all week.

Ha: it's a rerun of the previous local music thingy when she did it by decades -- and it's '90s today. Feh. I'm outta here.

Just heard Renee say that they would be playing all 90s music this weekend. I really hope that doesn't mean they'll be promoing it by playing all 90s sets for 10@10.  Eeeewwww.
Let's get right to it.

****SPOILER ALERT*****

08/21/2012 - Tuesday! Local Music Month - 1990s!

1. Green Day - Welcome to Paradise
2. Jellyfish - The King Is Half Undressed
3. Counting Crows - Einstein On The Beach
4. Rancid - Time Bomb
(TV: Living Color - Calhoun Tubbs "Wrote a song about it. Want to hear it? Hear it goes.")
5. En Vogue - Free Your Mind
(Timothy Leary: "My ambition is to liberate the world. I know the odds are against me, but, uh, we only have a few years here. Let's try to leave the spaceship a better place.")
6. Chris Isaak - San Francisco Nights
7. 4 Non Blondes - What's Up?
(Super Bowl XXIV: Niners handle Broncos as Joe Montana outduels John Elway and earn Team of the Decade Honors.)
8. Primus - Jerry Was A Racecar Driver
9. The Donnas - Gimmie My Radio
10. Metallica - Enter Sandman
(TV: South Park - The Brovlofsky family is moving to San Francisco)
(Outro: The Mermen - Ocean Beach)

I will need to check, but I think we've heard at least 3 or 4 of those songs in previous Local Scene sets this month. Jellyfish, En Vogue, maybe Chris Isaak, maybe Rancid?

ETA: Yep, correct on all counts, and the Green Day tune was played back in the first week of the month as well. So fully half of this set has already been played in one of the first 4 sets.
