*SPOILER*******

‎07/05/12 - Thursday! 1985!

1. Mick Jagger and David Bowie - Dancing In the Streets
2. Power Station - Some Like It Hot
3. Animotion - Obsession
... (News: The compact disc will become part of our everyday lives)
4. Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
5. The Blue Nile - Stay
6. Prefab Sprout - When Love Breaks Down
(TV: Moonlighting - (Bruce Willis) "Our business is built on mistrust.")
7. The Cure - Close To Me
(News: Jeremy Levin is healthy after his hostage ordeal)
8. Pete Townsend - Face The Face
9. Bryan Adams - Run to You
(News: Zappa testifies about music censorship "I'm pretty sure they want you to all worship the same god")
10. Love & Rockets - Ball of Confusion

Not a bad assortment, Bryan Adams and the Bowie/Jagger clusterfuck notwithstanding.

There were a number of possible sets that led with the Jagger/Bowie collab, none of which were awful but neither did any of them stand over the others. This is one of those.
Let's get right to it.

There were also a number of '85 sets over the years that were built around Live Aid clips (like the Baez soundbite, etc) and this isn't one of those, either. Of course I'm giving someone in management credit for picking this year on this day... which is probably too much credit.

Personally I think it was just a way to ensure we get more than one 80s set into a period of five days.
Let's get right to it.

Fun Fact: Love & Rockets' "Ball of Confusion" was a bustout in 2012 and hasn't been played since.

"Who put the filling in the pie in the sky?" -- was that a deliberate lyric change on their part or some bizarre mondegreen?

I kinda like this set. The Bowie/Jagger collab is something of a guilty pleasure for me, admittedly.

Tonight's replay is of last Monday's 1982. Too bad...I wanted to hear the Blue Nile and Prefab Sprout again. :(
