20 May 2015: it's...1975!
« on: May 19, 2015, 09:29:41 PM »
no thread as of 9:30 -- Is AL at the U2 show?  Assuming a '70s or even '60s set tomorrow, which of course I'll miss.

Could be, but I think she went on Monday night as well. No BOS announced from yesterday's set either, although looking at the voting I have to think Styx is likely to win the popular vote (not to mention the LN derby).

And at 9:45, it's that foghead's fave new song that's been bombarding our ears for the last six months. (I guess I should be happy we're not being exhorted to escort Hozier to church every 90 minutes anymore.)
Let's get right to it.

And it's indeed a 70s set -- 1975!

We start out with Springsteen's BTR. Why do I feel so conflicted when she plays this song?

Wish she'd taken requests for this set -- I had a good one or two. Oh well, save 'em for next time.

Mercury Cougar ad > 2. The Dictators - (I Live for) Cars and Girls.

Oh. My. Fucking. God.

Meanwhile the pattern of FFs interposed by uber-rarities continues.
Let's get right to it.

The car theme continues.

Ricardo Montalbon's Chrysler Cordoba ad (and Farrah Fawcett hawking Pearl Drops, heh heh heh)

3. Sweet - Fox on the Run.
Let's get right to it.

4. Paul Simon - 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover

Clip leading into this was unrecognized, but it was a woman yelling "Did you hear your father? Out of the water now!" or something close to that.
Let's get right to it.

5. The Who, Slipkid

No easy way to be free.

(I note that participation over at Snipeville is way down too. Was there a fire drill or something this morning?)

Oh yeah. Duh....

7. FMac - World Turning

Only one real rarity/bustout, but otherwise not a lot to get excited about. Slipkid was nice, but still...

"One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" clip > 8. Steely Dan - Any World (That I'm Welcome To)

Featuring the prominent backing vocals of one M. McDonald.
Let's get right to it.
