27 Oct 2014: it's... 1984
« on: October 27, 2014, 07:24:00 AM »
no clues. Hoping for something good, as I'll be away for 3-days in Napa at a work conference, starting tomorrow.

'83 and '74 are both "due", so could be either, unless we're getting '90s.

and it's '84, which was also "due", I guess.

GenPublic "Tenderness", a fairly LN-ish TOTHK.

I might be able to listen, but I won't be able to post.  So take notes!

If we get '74, Todd Rundgren's Just One Victory would be apropos to the ongoing Giants theme thing.
Let's get right to it.

Bruce Cockburn, "Lovers in a dangerous Time", which I assume will segue into another Footloose clip.

well I was wrong about the segue: Iowa caucuses, other news --> Echo/B-men, "Seven Seas", an easy early BOS.  Heard them on the Peak today too ("Bring on the Dancing Horses" in a 1985 set)

Reagan campaigns --> Glenn Frey "Smugglers Blues". It's the nature of the business, all right.

DeLorean trial --> "Drive". Heh.

Rosalie played a cover of this by a woman on Acoustic Sunrise yesterday but I didn't catch who it was.

Clever segue of the day. Fantasy: Ronnie pushing job creation & traditional values; Reality: the cocaine horrors of the 80s.  Heh heh heh. Right.

Ah-nuld "Ah'll Be Bahck" --> PSBs, "West End Girls", which is from spring 1986. Oops.

ETA: the orig indie version did come out in '84 but I don't think that's the version we heard.

I'm amused to discover that the Pet Shop Boys didn't work in a pet shop, but they had friends who did. I'll remember that technique when I name my band.
