Not sure how much music there will be, but a FB friend posted that Brian Eno will be guesting on the Colbert show tomorrow night. Now that's something you don't see every day.

Premiering on PBS tomorrow, Dec 3rd, The BUDDY HOLLY PBS SPECIAL, a concert produced by Peter Asher to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Holly's birth, with many top stars for the new tribute album he produced of Holly's songs. The concert includes performances by Graham Nash, Stevie Nicks, Lyle Lovett, Boz Scaggs, Jackson Browne, Chris Isaak, Shawn Colvin, Cobra Starship and Peter himself playing Holly's classics that were so influential to rock and roll.  Here's a preview:

What, no Linda Ronstadt? Considering she and Asher are/were quite close, that seems odd.

I think I once saw a gay flick called The Ultimate Buddy Party...  ;)

But I didn't know that Peter Asher's daughter is a member of Cobra Starship.

MeTV just aired an ep of the Dick Van Dyke show that featured Chad and Jeremy as two British invasion pop idols.  ( I had no idea it was Chad and Jeremy until the end credits.). Fun episode.  I've forgotten how well this show was written, lots of gags.  ....and  Mary Tyler Moore was a total hottie.

The duo also made several television guest appearances. In back-to-back sitcom appearances, they first played fictional singing duo The Redcoats (Fred and Ernie) on the February 10, 1965 episode of the TV sitcom Dick Van Dyke Show that satirized Beatlemania. Two songs were featured in that episode: "No Other Baby" and "My, How The Time Goes By".  The following week they appeared on the Patty Duke Show as unknown British singing duo Nigel & Patrick, performing "A Summer Song", "The Truth Often Hurts the Heart" and "Yesterday's Gone."

I assume you're watching "over-the-air" on ch. 20.2? Me-TV retuns to cable next week and I can't WAIT.

Just stumbled across the 2002 docu Only the Strong Survive, a DA Pennebaker look at some aging soul greats and what they were up to that year (some of whom have since died).  Wilson Pickett, Jerry Butler, Mary Wilson, Sam Moore, Carla Thomas, the Chi-Lites...

Watching the Sharks/Canucks game; the arena in Vancouver appears to have an actual organist (well, hey, it's Canada, eh?) and he's playing snippets from songs like "Seven Nation Army". What, no Rush?

yeah, that's not good.  Today's Michal Handzus, he gets high on you, bro...!

speaking of arena rock, or rather arena R&B, in today's Winter Classic outdoor hockey game b/w the Flyers and Rangers none other than Philadelphia native Patti LaBelle sang the US national anthem. I don't know who sang O Canada, but it was some blonde lady.   She looked good, but I had the sound down.
