The TAMI show was great, thanks for the tip and I'm so glad I decided to chk this board at about 9:20 last night, just in time to tune in! The sound mix and vid quality were both pretty darn good, no lip synching, all live. The "Electronoscope" video technology was sharp and crisp. Wow! Would love to see this again, not split up by the pledge drive stuff.
I understand a couple perfs were not shown lat night, but we got all the biggies. James Brown was just the best. After seeing him do his shimmy shuffle dance moves, I have to think that Mick was inspired to attempt some similar steps. Mick has always been a mover, but I think he and Keith decided to up their game after seeing what JB could do. You couldn't see Bill Wyman until partway through the 2nd song, so I was wondering at first who's on bass? Was Bill sick that day? then the director got wise and pulled the shot back to get "the older sad looking guy on bass." (I'm quoting myself here.)
I'm really happy the cameras pulled back and showed the audience from behind the stones. That was a fab POV shot. gave you a real sense of the frenzy. I noticed some empty seats toward the back, did these kids all run down to get closer? (The promos say that "2600 kids" attended, but the current Santa Monica Aud web site says it holds 3000 ppl.) I loved the crowd shots, seeing kids cover their ears, jostling each other ans smiling to their buddies, like "can you believe how boss this is?" Mostly very white crowd, for sure, but the camera did focus on two black girls when JB was onstage. I saw some uniformed coppers at the front of the audience, keeping those screaming kids back from the stage. haha! Anyway, so much to like.
