11 Aug 2014: it's... 1981
« on: August 09, 2014, 06:25:28 PM »
The promo said something about a new jar of jelly beans in the Oval Office, or something.

TOTHK: uber-uber-LN Geils, "Centerfold". Nowhere to go but up from here.

that "drive it/private" rhyme is positively Pat Monahan-worthy.

Brooke Shields/Calvin Klein --> BOS1 DM, "Just Can't Get Enuf". I much prefer the Vince Clarke era of this band.

World News Tonight on Thatcher --> "Waiting on a Friend", which is  rather LN at this point.

To say the least.  Just about any track from Tattoo You other than this or Start Me Up (and maybe Hang Fire, which is borderline) would qualify as a rarity at this point.
Let's get right to it.

Dudley Moore/John Gielgud in Arthur --> George Benson "Turn Your Love Around".  BOS2 for a nice pop surprise.  Always assumed this was one that MJ turned down.

"Turn Your Love Around": Exactly the type of indicative-of-the-era pop which should make more 10@10 appearances.

I'm surprised the prefix "über" did not appear in this post (maybe it got used up on J. Geils).

Agreed with the LN designation, if not the WOS.

Now I need to hear "Stop Draggin' My Car Around".

Not sure why, but every time I hear the intro to this, my first thought is "TP & the HBs", not The Goat. It's clearly their sound (and their songwriting), but her version has received far more play.
Let's get right to it.
