I'd say no. Love the people, but the songs that tend to get played in a Y2K set...notsomuch.

I didn't mean that the tunes got more love, but has it been recognized of the year of our secret origin story?  Maybe one day Marvel Studios can devote a movie to us!

High Fidelity --> XTC "Man Who Murdered Love"  nice segue and BOS1FRA

Huge John Cusack fan, Huge XTC fan, so that actually made my day.

Given that my attendance has been sporadic at best the last couple years or so & that 2000 was in limited rotation when I was hanging more regularly...not sure of the answer to the following question, but:

But does 2000 get any extra love for being the year that the 10@10 Club got rolling?

For whatever reason, I thought the Yahoo club originated in 1999. But it was in August 2000 when I first met Gazoo, RGM, POC and Rod at a chain pizza restaurant at Embarcadero 2 that has long since moved on.

I ate at that Uno's!

And I remember meeting Dave for the first time at Chevy's near the same location with a larger group a couple of months later.

I miss Pizzeria Uno -- guilty pleasure, chain-wise.

Thanks for the name of the place - there'd be a ribs place in the same locale through about 2005, but it's been a "For Lease" ever since.

I thought I heard a song switch midstream. I think it was AL's Elvis Costello moment.

The original Yahoo! Group was 'founded' 6/7/1999, with Version 2.0 starting in 2001.

Was wondering about that. It had a definite double-clutch/gear-grinding effect here.
Let's get right to it.

Jack Black in High Fidelity ("you're snobs!") --> Dandy Warhols. I love this song, but it's quite the '99/'00 Katrina at this point.

GS-style commenters never die. This one's from 6/15/1999, in response to Michelle Shocked's "Anchorage":

I don't who or what that was. I give 1 un-vote for "best of set".

I had known Gaz since late 1996 (we were mutually one of each others first friends upon moving to the city that year), and I was definitely at the Pizzeria Uno event, so we must have met as well!

You may have  - it's been awhile. It was during that era that we hung out with the likes of eujean, pefanie, razstrelnikov.... who else am I forgetting?

Still, it's BOWS (W standing for "a Weak"). This White Stripes is great, too, but White Stripes as the "alternative" in a 00's set is becoming the cliche of cliches on an increasingly routinized show.

I guess it was either them or the Outkast tune, and rock won the day.
