31 July 2014: it's... 1989
« on: July 30, 2014, 08:29:55 PM »
someone in g-snipes said they heard a promo and it "sounded like" '89. No thread on FB but I think AL might be at the Melisseridge concert.

ETA: heard the promo this morning and it is indeed '89.  I have a 10:30 meeting, thankfully.

I liked the RHCP and B52's openers. Sounded like a long version of Channel Z, but I don't know it all that well.

ETA: "Higher Ground", "The Want Of A Nail", and "Yellow Moon" are FF, and "Nineteen Forever" has been played a few sets before.

The Pixies were Nirvana's idols, and their most optimistic commercial goal on releasing Nevermind, one they thought was a pipe dream, was to become as big as the Pixies.

Well (you saw this coming): not sorry I missed this one. Your basic DM/AL greatest '89 hits package. LNs galore, mostly, tho' I woulda VHM'd "Channel Z" and "Punk Rock Girl".   Just one interesting pop bustout ("Walk the Dinosaur" or "I Beg Your pardon") woulda killed.
