27 May 2014: it's... 1977
« on: May 27, 2014, 07:40:36 AM »
No clues last nite and I didn't hear the usual promo this AM.

ETA: they're playing Radiohead's "Creep" a lot lately.

wow: so soon after '76 last week, we get '77. Ian Dury "S&D&R&R" TOTHK and BOS1.

Without doing a systematic study, it does seem as if the 2nd AL era has been a lot more 70's-centric. I do believe we've only broken the Y2K barrier once (2002, in her third set back).

I can hear moaning about this from many directions, but it gets my BOS vote unquestioningly.

And: Synths!! (Although I have to confess I'm paying attention to the piano part, which is quite rocking in itself.)

Let's get right to it.

So far it's an all-Brit set: Ian Dury, the Jam, Yes, and ELO.

ETA: Guess I jinxed it--number 5 is Two Out of Three Ain't Bad. Not British but a welcome choice nonetheless. BOS4 here (the only one not making the grade for me was the ELO, which still gets a VHM).

But Meat Loaf is as American as...meatloaf.
