"Panama Red was... green, too!"  LOL!

Difference between AL and RR Part 700: AL makes the set reading enjoyable.

Hell, she doesn't fly through it like she can't wait to get it over with and go get another cup of coffee.
Let's get right to it.

for those keeping score: Zappa and BJ were bustouts;  Broooce, Roxy Music and the NRPS qualify as rarities that AL played once or twice.

WOS, Roxy Music.

Damned fine set, even with the personal aversion to Roxy Music.

BOS4 Roxy Music "Do the strand", luv.

They had a "guest" bass player for this album; he's doing a helluva job here.

I'm not sure Roxy every had a full-time permanent bass player; seems like they brought in someone different for each album.
Let's get right to it.

AL on FB mentioned she was tallying BOS votes, but never posted the result.

However, she did post today's set on SoundCloud, so I'm listening right now.  :)

Captain Jack! A shout out for you, from, of course, Billy Joel.

What a great song!  Very few of the lyrics literally applied to me, but he perfectly captures
the ennui of the late teen years when one is still living at home.  I could totally relate, man.

(Sodden thought: Has AL retired the Don Pardo sounders again? I don't remember if I've heard any since she came back or not.)

I don't remember either, but I would suspect that she has.  In one of her e-mails she made it
clear that she didn't want to copy from Dave.  She certainly respected his work and wanted her
10@10 to be just as good, but in her own style.

Roxy Music has created some amazingly great songs.

That wasn't one of them.

I feel about RM like some people feel about Bruce or The Stones: They can do no wrong .... but they do have their low points. :)

I would've loved to hear something else from Stranded (I requested Amazona), but I knew that had a real slim chance. Dave might've played it, though.  I was able to get him to play Prairie Rose once, but that was because I called in with the correct answer to an on-air question he asked:  "What famous model is pictured on the cover of Siren?"

the prize was listener request, and I said "Let's hear some Roxy Music.. I'll go with Prairie Rose, since it's about Jerry Hall."

Irish Greg said "How about Love Is The Drug instead?"  and Dave snapped at him, "no!"   They trimmed that part out of the on-air dialogue...   :)

I think it's the Brian Eno factor.  His quirkiness sometimes misses the mark, and misses big.  When
it's held in check, the results can be brilliant.  Despite that caveat, I enjoy most of his solo work
from this period.

Hooray!  The BOS winners are starting to get designated on KFOG's 10@10 set list page!
(And it's generally back to the "artist - title" order.)
