Geoff & Gaz got theirs, is anyone else likely to get an appearance by their favorite bands today?

Consider me pretty darned pleased as well.

That book Dave ref'd, The Fabulous Sylvester--I saw a guy reading it on the Montg'y Muni platform last night. Didn't know it existed, but my interest was piqued. Might have to hunt up a copy.
Let's get right to it.

Doubtful in my case. NRBQ has been played once or twice, but only Get That Gasoline Blues in 74, which is far from their best.

I mentioned it in another thread, but I'll retread here: Bob Christgau reviews the book in this week's Village Voice.  Apparently it's an enjoyable read, but it's 300 pages, which I'm not sure is warranted or feasible no matter how engaging the deets of Syl's odd life may have been.  Best revelation: Martha Wash and Izora Rhodes are masterful storytellers.

And Led Zeppelin didn't have anything going in '78.  J. Geils might have had a release (Monkey Island, or Love Stinks).

Anyway, of the songs I heard (got back from the dentist in the middle of the Dead), I'll pick "Dreadlock Holiday" BOS.  I don't like psuedo-reggae, I love it!

300 pages is pretty damn short for a bio, even if the subject died young. Xgau aside (I love that abbreviation!) I've seen several rave reviews.  But I'll wait for paperback (I'm just now catching up with Moneyball).

Speaking of Syl & that period, KQED reran the docu "The Castro" for Pride, and lo & behold, that's where Dave got all his clips for the Pride set -- someone had asked Fri or Sat.

Bonus Track: "It's A Heartache"!

Is it me, or have the bonus tracks been more interesting than most of the songs in the actual set lately?

BOS2 Sylvester, "(Dance) Disco Heat".  shake it, Ali!

Shook it this morning on the replay. Big time disco flashbacks. Polyester wrap around dresses. Shoes with wooden and cork heels.

Forever Autumn. Just heard it like I've never heard it previously. No time to check lyrics. What's the story?
