I'm back to work now.  Happy Friday/weekend, all; happy bday Mark and John; happy great-beyond bday to Brandon, who would have been 39 tomorrow.   :-[
Oh yah, Happy B-day Tinka_Cat!  And sorry to ask, but who's Brandon?

Damn good set! And FAST!

(apologies to Kyle MacLachlan, but then that's a pretty obscure reference)

damn good pie?  (Happy bday, Mark!)

The Twin Peaks thing was gonna be my guess.
Let's get right to it.

I saw the Bad Plus with Wendy Lewis last night at Montalvo.  There were some definite Twin Peaks moments with some really ethereal vocals.  A bizarre show, but worth checking out.

Just caught a great PBS pledge week special that featured a Stax/Volt revue filmed in Oslo Norway in '67. No Carla, but Otis ruled the stage.

I was gonna say "an all-black show for an all-white audience", but i guess Steve Cropper was on stage somewhere...

Watched Wattstax the other night, if you haven't seen it, do!  the music is pretty good, of course  -- although i wanted to hear more of everyone -- but the interviews, the footage from 1972 is fantabulous!

eta: The Wattstax concert, staged in LA Coliseum in 1972 to commemorate the 1965 LA riots, was an all-back show for a mostly all-black audience featuring Stax artists.  Issac Hayes headlines, but Rufus Thomas brings down the house w his two tunes.

Saw it at the Red Vic a year or so ago--some great performances, some interesting interviews. Definitely a product of its time.
Let's get right to it.

Rosalie actually played the exchange w/ the Foghead over the stream today. She offered him a Moby Grape tune, San Franciscan Nights by Eric Burdon & the Animals, and Plastic Fantastic Lover. He went for PFL right away--said he thought that you hear the Animals tune all the time, to the point that it's become a cliche. Couldn't have put it better myself.
Let's get right to it.

Sorry for the inside refs/oversharing.  He's been on my mind lately.  (The gang I met up with in DC were friends of his; it was difficult at times looking at old pics.)
