I think we all know Mike Love's role in "Heroes and Villains."
Nope.  Don't know of which you speak.  Please elucidate.

Jinx!

(Elucidation: Love's an asshole. And he was specifically critical of this album's ambition.)

Damn good set! And FAST!

(apologies to Kyle MacLachlan, but then that's a pretty obscure reference)

Just caught a great PBS pledge week special that featured a Stax/Volt revue filmed in Oslo Norway in '67. No Carla, but Otis ruled the stage.

I was gonna say "an all-black show for an all-white audience", but i guess Steve Cropper was on stage somewhere...

Close. Duck Dunn was up there too--pre-beard and pipe days.

You're mostly right about the audience, but I was surprised to see a few dark faces in the crowd. US servicemen, I'm guessing.
Let's get right to it.

Watched Wattstax the other night, if you haven't seen it, do!  the music is pretty good, of course  -- although i wanted to hear more of everyone -- but the interviews, the footage from 1972 is fantabulous!

eta: The Wattstax concert, staged in LA Coliseum in 1972 to commemorate the 1965 LA riots, was an all-back show for a mostly all-black audience featuring Stax artists.  Issac Hayes headlines, but Rufus Thomas brings down the house w his two tunes.

originally it was "Damn good coffee!  And HOT!" - after he took a big slurp and spit it out because it was scalding.  But you got that it was Twin Peaks, so half a frink point anyway.

I'm back to work now.  Happy Friday/weekend, all; happy bday Mark and John; happy great-beyond bday to Brandon, who would have been 39 tomorrow.   :-[
