"She's Leaving Home" makes me think of the Billy Bragg version on Sgt Pepper Knew My Father the charity SP covers LP from '89 or '90.

Actually, a set of covers of these songs woulda been a cool idea. Shatner, anyone?

Interestingly, I went to the WFUV archives today (which I don't do often enuf; haven't listened to Vin Scelsa in ages). Pete Fornatale's "Mixed Bag" show did a Pepper salute last week, and indeed he was constrained by the Digital Milennium Copyright Nonsense -- instead of playing SPLHCB itself, played cover versions of the songs in the same order.

Kick Shaw - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band
Joe Cocker - With A Little Help From My Friends (live Woodstock version)
Elton John - Lucy In The Sky
Gomez - Getting Better
George Burns - Fixing A Hole
Nilsson - She's Leaving Home
BeeGees/Frampton/George Burns - Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite
Angels of Venice - Within You Without You
John Denver - When I'm 64
Michelle Shocked - Lovely Rita
The Lolas - Good Morning, Good Morning
The Persuasions - Sgt. Pepper Reprise
Eric Burdon & War - A Day In The Life

And then he closed the show with Johnny Rivers, "Summer Rain". I had not heard Nilsson's lovely cover of "SLH" in decades; Several others of these were new to me.

(Wonder if KFOG got in any trouble for playing the LP -- not just once but 3 times.)
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round
