digging this set, man.. applause!

Me, too. And I'm not gonna be home tonight to capture it for posterity. Hoping they keep playing the classic in chrono order on Saturday!
Let's get right to it.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!  I had no idea Dave had ever played the Incredible Bongo Band's "Apache"!!!

Needless to say, best of set, best of week, best of month.  The origins of hip-hop and breakdance, right here.

This is one I'm not sure I've heard EVER. Why the hell has it never appeared in a Strictly Instrumental set? BOS4, at least.

Urth, please tell me you'll be able to archive this tonight?  Pretty please?

Sorry, dude, really. See above--I'm going to see X tonight @ the Crystal Ballroom.
Let's get right to it.

Any of you guys on a Mac?
When I'm streaming, it's in a Quicktime movie, when the set is done, I just select "save as Quicktime", then I found a .mov to mp3 converter - goes into iTunes..
Tho I started a little late today - Steely Dan was the first song I got

Big, BIG BOS from me for this song (and the whole amazing album)!!!!!  Very fond memories when I "discovered" this album.

This certainly made up for the last 2 days. But I fear '73 today means another crappy Friday in store.

Tomorrow, I think we'll go back to ... 1967!  yeah, that's it~!

pretty unusual for Dave to mention the actual year of the broadcast in his back-announce, but at least we now know this was from 2001.

I was driving north on 101 when this came on.  I had never heard it, but knew the melody.  It was so transfigured, I couldn't remember the name of the tune.  Was the original hit by the Ventures?

according to Wikipedia, the first US hit (the original was in the UK by The Shadows) was by  "Jørgen Ingmann and His Guitar"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apache_(The_Shadows_song)

They spend a lot of the article talking about the historic hip-hop role of the Bongo Band version!

for some reason, it does just pop up that way now and then.  That's how I got the whole HBO "We Are One" concert onto DVD.  It just mysteriously activated that little button, and I saved as Quicktime!
