*Jason Robards also beat out Alec Guinness for Star Wars, the only acting nom given to anyone from the Star Wars series.  John Williams won for Original Score, though.

Woody Allen (Annie Hall) beat out George Lucas for Best Director & for Original Screenplay, and ironically, after Chavefsky sadi what he said, he had to present the Adapted Scrrenplay award to Julia.  Earlier Jane Fonda, who was the lead in Julia, had lost the Best Actress award to Dianne Keaton.

Also of note:  this was the year that "You Light Up My Life" won for Best Song.  The absolute nadir of this Oscar.

And Richard Dreyfuss became the first guy under the age of 30 to receive the Best Actor award (he was 29).

indeed, Dave got his Oscar clip wrong today too.  Redgrave won the 1977 Oscar, presented in spring '78. Something must be going on with Mr Morey, methinks.

I was looking in my Oscars book & momentarily forgot that the 1977 entry was for the movie release year, and not the year of the award show.

Point of Know Return was released late in '77, the title track entering the charts on 12/18 of that year.  "Dust" entered the charts on 2/18/78.

quite the innacuracy from Mr. Morey, I must say.
