on FB: "AL is *killing* it today!" -- and for the most part, that sentiment is correct, for a change.

And over on the KFOG page I'm guessing there are multiple references to fire and cutlery.
Let's get right to it.

If the set doesn't go to 11, it's another short set this week.

"knife between her teeth" - I love that phrase, and laugh whenever I see it written here.

But don't ever say it to me, because I will look at you like "WTF are you talking about?"  :)

BOS2 "Ripple"  If you don't think a Dead song can make you cry, you need to see Mask.

I cry every time I hear Day Job or Don't Ease Me In...   ;)

I think people would be surprised at which song in today's set has been played the most,
and which song is the bust-out.

unsurprisingly, serious LN action in the request thread.
If AL decided to play only deep album cuts and none of the hits, what kind of reaction do you think she'd get?
swoons from us; lots of "I never heard that song before" posts on FB.

And I'm not looking for obscurities; just a few pop hits that you rarely hear. Today I requested Wilson Pickett's cover of "Sugar Sugar"; Mark Lindsay "Arizona" and Brotherhood of Man "United We Stand". All Top 40 singles and hardly songs that would cause massive tune-outs.

I don't know what kind of reaction she would get, but I would hope it would be wonder, surprise,
and delight... for some of us, it would be "I haven't heard that in a while," and for others,
it might be "I never heard that song before... and I'm glad I did, because I like it.

And while there are some rarities I'd like to hear -- I'm not sure I'd label them "obscure" -- I too
would be satified with something a bit different from well-known artists.  But I have trouble
thinking of them as "deep album cuts."  Many of the songs I have in mind were played on the
radio back in the day, and not infrequently.  In fact, we usually heard them on the radio before
we bought the album.

Consider the following:

Jethro Tull - With You There to Help Me
Grateful Dead - Cumberland Blues
Traffic - Stranger To Himself
Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Country Girl

Are they "deep album cuts?"  Are they obscure?  I don't think so -- and they all would be
bust-outs on 10@10.  And that's just the tip of the iceberg...

Paul McCartney - Maybe I'm Amazed

I'm quite surprised that this isn't in the database -- I'm sure DM has played it before (paging RGMike).
"Every Night", "Junk" and "That Would Be Something" all got 10@10 spins from McCartney's first album.

Kind of amazing. If DM played it (I seem to think he did, at least once) it's outside the scope of the shraytabase. Considering it's a staple of other 10@10s like the Drive and the Peak... not to mention it's pretty much the only song from that LP that "Classic Hits" radio ever plays... it's surprising.

One song only, sure, but it does lend support to the idea that KFOG does the best 10@10 around.
