Clue: Hands Across America

Thanks, Cap! I'll stick with my UK retro-chart from '73, I can't imagine Renee playing anything earth-shattering in '86. (tho' I'd be thrilled to be proved wrong)

TOTHK - Peter Gabriel "Big Time"

It can't get any less necessary than this. (And this from an avowed PG fan.)

maybe RR is referencing her own "big fat head".

The Call "I Still Believe"
Oy. one of the 1986 FFs of all time. Glad I passed on this LN-fest.
-
Iggy Pop "Real Wild Child"
-
Iggy Pop "Real Wild Child"
Pretty clumsy transition out of the movie clip.

Fabulous Thunderbirds "Wrap It Up"

Roger that.
-
Steve Winwood "The Finer Things"
-
Fabulous Thunderbirds "Wrap It Up"
cold we put together an all-male band by guys named Kim?
Yes, I think so:
Kim Wilson (Fab T-Birds) - Vox & harp
Kim Simmonds (Savoy Brown) - Guitar)
I guess that's all we need, b/c that's all I can think of
-
Steve Winwood "The Finer Things"
like this one!
-
David & David "Welcome To The Boomtown"

Hmm, must disagree here. Today's song selections, including Winwood, do not count among life's finer things, IMO. Although this D&D, while probably LN, is very evocative of the '80's.

Kim Thayil, Soundgarden, guitar. You could switch him or Simmonds to bass, then you'd just need a drummer.
-
Georgia Satellites "Keep Your Hands To Yourself"
Isn't this 1987?
ETA: released October 1986

just as long as Kim Fowley produces their album.

a Nov '86 release whose chart peak was indeed in '87. It's the Renee way.
But Wall Street is indeed from late '87.

Georgia Satellites "Keep Your Hands To Yourself"
Isn't this 1987?
I was thinking '87 about the Wall Street clip, too.
This is another one of those songs whose best attribute is the Beavis & Butthead video about it. "'Isn't that your cousin?' 'Oh yeah, I think it is Richard-head.'l

Per Renee: 2-way tie for BOS - David & David and The Call

Wall Street was not only an '87 release, but December '87.

To be fair, though, the financial corruption theme was big news for the whole latter half of the decade. Good thing that's been relegated to the dustbin of history.

TANC: Last night on the Daily Show, Jon Stewart and John Hodgman did a bit based on that "greed" speech from Wall Street.

Isn't it "Mandolin Rain"? Or is that a lame GS joke?
Mostly agree with Rad's ratings, although I'd probably give #10 a better grade on both sides. Maybe C/D. As for the Fab Birds, at least it wasn't "Tuff Enuff".
"Big Time".... yes, if you have to lead with an LN, at least have it catchy.
