I'm gonna guess that RR will attempt to ease the pain by playing a year in which the Niners WON a Super Bowl in New Orleans... 1990.
nope... '83. Instant uber-uber-LN: SRV. Meh.

Maybe, but she will not surprise us with Lisa Fischer's forgotten gem, "How Can I Ease The Pain?" (Yes, I realize that was a 1991 hit, but, ya know)

I was fortunate enough to meet SRV at the Kabuki Theatre. Great show. We made a guitar for him. As he slid deeper into unhealthy ways, I didn't enjoy his music as much. We had to have a lawyer help get the guitar back since he didn't want to pay for it, or give it back! It's supposedly in the Hard Rock in Vegas now. I always remember him doing "Little Wing" at the Kabuki.

I love the song "Lenny" (written for his wife) but I don't recall Riviera Paradise. Must be a song about shooting craps at a the Vegas casino: Riviera pair o' Dice?

is this thing on?

"Lenny" was on the first album ('83), and is one of my favorite instrumentals. "Riviera Paradise" was on the last Double Trouble lp from 1989's In Step. Also very nice, more of a latin jazz feel, as opposed to Lenny's more traditional slow blues. In Step refers to his recovery from the slide into drugs and alchohol Geoff refers to. 1985's Soul To Soul really suffers because of the decline, but In Step was well recieved. That's part of the tragedy of his death, he'd turned things around and was making great music again (I really liked the album (Family Style) he did with his brother Jimmy just before the accident).

I saw SRV in 85 and in 89. I thought he was better in 85 when he was hopped up on the junk. ;)
I just listened to Riviera Paradise. It's very nice!
