instant BOS Electric Prunes, easily one of my fave rock 45s of all time.
-
#2, Dear Mr. Fantasy. Not exactly rare, but always a good listen.

Indeed, BOS2 from me.

LN1: Monkees, "Pleasant" tho' it is.

Too Much to Dream?
-
BOS3 Jimi.
I'll take a wild guess. Are You Experienced?
-
Beat It On Down The Line!
(from the Dead's 1st album for those that don't know)
-
"Goin' Down the Line" -- rarity of the week. BOS5.
(thanks Geoff, I'd've never guessed it was the Dead)
-
BOS3 Jimi.
I'll take a wild guess. Are You Experienced?
"Castles made of sand"

Beat It On Down The Line!
This version always sounds weird to me 'cause it's just a little much faster than they played it later on. Nice to hear, in any case.

Good song. Axis: Bold As Love is kind of a '67-'68 hybrid.
-
Marvin and Tammi "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"
-
"Ain't no Mtn" is pretty LN, as Motown oldies go. But VHM anyway, M&T were magic.

New York Mining Disaster

New York Mining Disaster
Early Bee Gees (chameleonic band)
-
BOS6 BeeGees, "NY Mining Disaster", still a gem.
-
Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds!
-
LN3: "LSD"

Happy Together

uber-uber-LN4: Turtles. One of the top-5 most-played '60s oldies, easily.
Overall, a very pleasant set. The Dead was a bustout, I'm assuming. Or a serious rarity, at least.
-
C'mon, put in a couple of extended jams to stretch it out to 10:45.
-
Golden Road? WTF??? I don't think so, missy!

wait, she played the wrong song? Bwahahaha!

Jeez! She blows the backsell. Wrong song ID for the Dead!

Jeez! She blows the backsell. Wrong song ID for the Dead!
My guess is that she intended to play "Golden Road..." since it's been played before (by AL). Cued up the wrong track and was too busy to notice.

It just reinforces my theory about their approach. It's kind of a cynical "Let's play a 60's set, they'll eat it up!" And I think it sometimes works. But this was a case where her generational cluelessness got caught showing.

copied from GS:
1. The Electric Prunes - I Had Too Much To Dream (Last Night)
2. Traffic - Dear Mr. Fantasy
3. Jimi Hendrix - Castles Made of Sand
(Music: Up With People. Shitty music, but still better than Train or fun.)
4. The Monkees - Pleasant Valley Sunday
5. Judy Collins - Both Sides Now
6. The Grateful Dead - Beat It On Down The Line
(News: Protests. Even the Brits think the U.S. should be out of Vietnam and a wicked pissah ... er, obscenity)
7. Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell - Ain't No Mountain High Enough
8. The Bee Gees - New York Mining Disaster 1941
(Tim Leary melting into Bolivian)
9. The Beatles - Lucy In THe Sky With Diamonds
10. The Turtles - Happy Together

See also "Play Springsteen and they'll eat it up".

So now I am wondering if they'll recut the set to include the song she wanted to play, or recut the backsell to match what she really did play? They've done this sort of revisionism before, most recently with the "fucks" at the end of The End in the 12/21 set, when both the song and the backsell were edited.

I didn't catch the replay.

I just checked, and they've posted the list, and have the correct Dead tune, if a little typographically challenged: "Beat It ON Down the Line"
