"No. Wire. HAAAAANGEEEEERRRRSSS!" sez Renee.
borderline LN: Tom Tom Club, "Genius of Love" mainly because it was an AL fave -- I repeatedly requested "Wordy Rappinghood" to no avail.
-
I'll give a VHM to the Tom Tom Club. It certainly doesn't cook (kook?), but enjoyable nevertheless.

BohannonBohannonBohannonBohannon!

NOOOOOOOOOO! uber-uber-uber LN Men at Work -- which is really from '82, as far as the US is concerned.
-
Men at Work in '81? Not just an LN, but the wrong year, too! This was an 82 release, confirmed by AMG.

Then it should be considered a rarity in an '81 set.
LNagain, the Cars.
-
Boo, rotten song by the Cars.
-
there must be a website with nothing but car commericals that Renee has bookmarked.
LN3: Cars. I miss the peak sensation, all right.
-
I like the Cars song. I would like even more if she played "I'm in Love with a German Film Star" by the Passions.
-
not a rarity either, but VHM U2 before Bono thought he was God..
-
Rarity of the day: Lindsay Buckingham, Trouble. Nice.
-
BOS1 Lindsey Buckingham -- as rare as it's gonna get, I'll wager.
-
every liitle thing Di did was magic. VHM da po-po.

E-O, E-O, E-O, E-O, LN.

I'm tempted to grab a (aba)cab and split. LN4 Genesis. There's a hole in this somewhere -- DC's head, perhaps.
-
Genesis is the new Foo Fighters.

He's been saving the best for last, though.
-
One rarity, one almost (U2), and a whole lot of LNs. Wish I could be as enthusiastic about this set as some of the 'Snipes, but I've heard these songs far too many times.
-

Yay, first time in a long while I can work from home & hear an entire set.
This is my favorite Genesis song*, and can never say anything bad about Tom Tom Club. Although as much as Mike wants to hear "Wordy Rappinghood", I want to hear "The Man With the 4-Way Hips".
*love Peter Gabriel solo, but just never could get excited about PG-era Genesis..and I really tried.
-
BOS2 Katherine Hepburn and Henry Fonda, you old poop!
VHM "Message of Love" -- like, Brigitte Bardot!
-
Middle of the Road, indeed.
"We are, all of us, in the gutter, but some of are looking at the stars." That's pure poetry in my book. Also a great bass line throughout.

nice to see ya, bub. You haven't been missing much in the Renee/DC era.
-
Wowowow, giant BOS for obscure Was (Not Was). "Out Come the Freaks".
-
Holy crap! uber-BOS3 "Out Come the Freaks"!! (first version, they'd do it 2 more times in '83 and '88)
-
BOS2 Katherine Hepburn and Henry Fonda, you old poop!
VHM "Message of Love" -- like, Brigitte Bardot!
My money is on Daniel D-L to equal KH's 3 Leading Actor/-ess Oscars, FWIW.
-
RGMike finally gets Was (not Was) even though it's not "Walk the Dinosaur". BOS

From what I have heard in the car since Annalisa defected, I'd have to agree. Seems that the more social media focused things get, the more they get dumbed down by the LCD. Or have y'all come to a different conclusion in my absence?
-
ha: a nod to DM with "It's a Living", a great cheezy sitcom
-
oy: uber-LN5 Santana.
-
Wowowow, giant BOS for obscure Was (Not Was). "Out Come the Freaks".
Now, THIS is what 10@10 needs to be about.
-
for me at least, this
Steve Winwood Santana track was LN back in the day, and remains so forevermore.

And ironically enough, Renee seems to want to have nothing whatever to do with social media.

This set seems to be about on par with the Renee era. One truly unexpected song, a couple of borderline interesting tunes, and a whole pile of LN.

Pretty much. DC has always had a "formula" to impose on 10@10, but AL was petter equipped to make it work for her, because she was passionate about the show as a creative outlet (just as DM was). Renee doesn't really care and so with a set-list devised by committee, it is often downright depressing.

Seriously?...I think she does, but just doesn't let us know about it.

she's made it clear she HATES Facebook, in terms of dealing with what she perceives as mean, hyper-critical Fogheads (see: the Twitch debacle, and the complaints about the recent charity radio-thons). She Tweets, apparently.
-

I get that I'm preaching to the choir, but given that she works in radio, hating Facebook just doesn't cut it. R/ the Twitch and recent charity embarrassments, well, isn't the fact that Fogheads were voicing their opinions the purest form of democracy? At least for the former, it might have made a difference.
