I'l give an HM to Santana's "Hold On". Not bad, and much better than "Winning".

I gues the Dexy's song was a late '82 release but it didn't chart in the US until early '83.

I like this Motels song but it's the only one that AC radio ever plays.  I would have preferred "Take the L."

Eh, I don't get why you hate this song so much.  It's okay.  (not exactly a ringing endorsement)

I just never liked her voice. She sounds like she's trying to be a cocktail-lounge version of Chrissie Hynde.

Too soon for me to make that kind of statement about their production skills, but at least in this regard I think they're off to a good start.

Musically, otoh, this set is turning out to be early 80s Adult Contemporary hell.

Agreed on both counts. Probably the worst thing I could say about Morey (apart from his 1990's indifference) was that it often sounded like he was doing the show in some poorly ventilated garage.

"War Song" would definitely earn a BOS from me for its cheese factor. I have it on a 9/11 compilation album.

it's, like, one of his all-time fave movies. He featured it in many a 1982 set.

BillyBall! This is certainly the most complete set so far, from an integration-of-clips standpoint.

But uber-uber-LN Queen/Bowie

Yes, 'nice' is a good word.  Nice but uninspiring.

I also prefer her "Tune #10, time's up" better than AL's "Game Over" & her other ending sound that sounds like tubas going flat.

Agreed on "Under Pressure", which was a awesome in '82, but has not aged that well.

"Simple Song" is not a bad post-set selection. Yeah, this set was full of usual suspects, yet it has generated more comments than any 10@10 since May, I believe.

EDIT: Yep, the 5/4/12 1969 set had 44 comments. I believe this one now has 43.

Really? That new ending falls flat for me. Oh well.

The Shins kept me from switching off immediately. They're pretty much the only contemporary band that KFrOG is pushing that I like.

AL's various "set-ending" sounders all pretty much disappeared after a while.  And I didn't miss them when they did. This one isn't bad but again, all these new sounders, using the current KFOG male and female promotional voices, sound like they were recorded at the end of the day when everybody was really tired.

The one Renee's been using this week strikes me a just taking the script that Dave had for Don Pardo's ending sounder ("That's tune number 10, and our time is up!"), shortening it and adding a couple of contractions and rerecording it with a generic female voice. Kind of cheapens it a little, imo. But then, how can one compete with Don Pardo?
