Dust off those roller skates, kids! It's time to boogie, or punk out, or feather your hair or something.....

I made some cheezy requests -- late '70s sets have been a little light on the disco & pop lately.

Sorry for all the commas...had a kid jumping on my head shouting, "YouTube Transformers!!!" as I was posting. :-[

jeezus how many times has "Radio Radio" been a '78 TOTHK? (yeah, I'm remarkably cranky for a Friday).
-
Top o' the world, ma! BOS1 Cheap Trick.
-
BOS Cheap Trick....hell yeah!
-
VHM Heaven can wait. And ditto Genesis -- I know some considered this the beginning of their downward slide but it's rather sweet and compared to what came in the '80s it positively wonderful.
-
BOS2 Mr Rafferty. "you've been as constant as a northern star" -- constantly in the darkness, as Joni once sang.
-
*Spoiler Alert for those not on Radio*
BOS, "Shattered".

Ha! I was once Stopped for a traffic light there and some teenage hustler threatened to slash my tires -- laid his switchblade on my windshield! Luckily the light changed.

borderline unnecessary: Nick Gilder.

Yup. I don't think I need to hear this song any more. Too creepy.
And I do like "Follow You, Follow Me". Not drek.
-
I'll give a BOS for Heart. Tough.
-
BOS3 Heart when they were good
-
dare I say that "I wanna Be Sedated" is borderline unnecessary? I love the Ramones but it's the cliche one-song-by-the-artist that all classic rock stations play.
-
uber-BOS4 Brooooce. I had a T-shirt made that said "It ain't no sin to be glad you're alive"
-
BOS (actually, Best Of Year so far) was the intro to the Ramones song which featured Rochester's House Of Guitars (http://www.houseofguitars.com/)!

1/6/12 - Friday! Let's Turn on the RADIO-RADIO in 1978!
1. Elvis Costello and The Attractions - Radio Radio
(Ad: Kraco car stereo)
2. Cheap Trick - On Top of the World
(Movie: Heaven Can Wait - The place that comes after life and after dreams)
3. Genesis - Follow You Follow Me
4. Gerry Rafferty - Right Down the Line
(Movie: Animal House - Bluto smashes the folk singer's guitar)
5. The Rolling Stones - Shattered
6. A Taste of Honey - Boogie Oogie Oogie
(Ad: Weekends were made for...Michelob)
7. Nick Gilder - Hot Child in the City
8. Heart - Straight On
(Ad: Jovan Musk Oil perfume)
(Ad: House of Guitars - The Ramones as pitchmen - "Buy our records so we can buy these guitars!")
9. The Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated
10. Bruce Springsteen- Badlands (B.O.S!)
as often happens these days, this was a perfectly pleasant set that could've been so much better. You can pretty much tell which are the DC-mandated consultant-research records.

borderline unnecessary: Nick Gilder.
Just curious, as it isn't a frequent flyer, why? It is kind of a classic from that exact time.

Agree. Playing an artist's most recognizable radio song to be "accessible" is a recent 10@10 trait that really reared its ugly head this week. I thought the entire week of sets sucked, with the exception of the Movie Monday classic. Hopefully it was just individual song choices that didn't connect with me rather than a final descent into pre-programmed mediocrity.
I also thought of a KFOG-related analogy this week that seems fitting to me, but others might find too caustic. Anyway: KFOG = Democratic Party. Both are corporate and unadventurous but seem to regard themselves as righteous, free-thinking and, yes, progressive.

I seems to me that it's been played a number of times in the AL era, tho' I may just be imagining things. (it also shows up on other 10@10s like The Drive's)
Agree with Here'sToYa's analogy above, to which I would add: "still trading on past good will".
-
"still trading on past good will"
Indeed

and, like the Democratic party, marginally better than the alternative.

At least with music, you can get what you need without having to rely on tens of millions of people out there agreeing with you.
