As HTY mentioned, the previous night video clip is une baiser de la mort, which means she won't play my Rave-Ups request either. The jury's still out on Sade and Grace, though.

Not necessarily, just 98% of the time. (She did post the video for Shannon, after all!) Then again, 98+% of the rest of requests don't get played either.

What a good song; let's hope it can beat the curse. I hadn't heard it in about 25 years before I Youtubed it the last time you requested it, and I never knew the song title or artist -- or the Pretty in Pink/Ringwald connection. Just an 80's tune that got airplay on KROQ.
Ms. Jones got videoed, too, in the interim. And then there was one . . .

Pretty good album, too! It makes sense that KROQ played them...I believe they're from the LA area.
I just realized that I'm working at the preschool today and have to miss this set. Bummah!

wow, we're continuing the pattern of 1985 coming up every 3 weeks.

Razz-triny Tri-nay.
So the Dickens fair is happening now (it's actually pretty fun, even though it's pretty much like the Renaissance Faire idea moved up a few centuries) and the Dickens nerds are big on the Cockney rhyming slang.
"He went up the pears" means "He went up the stairs" b/c someone got the idea to substitute "apples and pears" for the word "stairs", and then they shortened it to just "pears".
That's why it's called a "raspberry" when you make that sound with your tongue: in Cockney rhyme "raspberry tart" was used for "fart."

That's awesome! They use the "apples and pears, stairs" in "To Sir, With Love".

REM should go to Philomath and stay there.
-
I'll give a BOS for one of REM's better grooves, "Can't Get There from Here".

Agreed.

as overplayed as TP can be, this is one that I really like. It was great in concert: I saw him at the Greek in Berkeley a few years back, thanks to KFOG.
HEY!

HEY!
I just always hated this video -- the beginning of preposterously overdone "concept" vids that overshadowed the siong itself instead of enhancing.
-
Another BOS for X, burning down the love shack, as it were.

Not sure about this X song, it's sort of ... MOR?
-
the burning house of Rock Hudson's love. Must we hear this clip EVERY '85 set? Well, It is AIDS Day.
And I love Kate Bush but this is another frequent flier of the AL era.
-
I haven't heard much of the set, but BOS Kate Bush!

-
Ahh, another BOS to "Running Up That Hill". Best song without a bass guitar!
-
I know "Running Up That Hill" is a frequent flyer, but I love it. Love the drums, and Kate herself, natch.
-
Great set today! Glad I could tune in.
-
I thought we were done, but BOS3 Animotion. Good '80s cheeze.
-

;) It's twoo. Kate Bush recorded Hounds of Love without any bass guitar. I watched a documentary on the making of the album recently. I had no idea, but now that they mentioned it.....
I can't tell if I loathe or love this Animotion song.

Wikipedia lists Del Palmer as the bass player on the track, but if you saw a documentary, then I guess it must be true.
-
Odd that first song after 10at10 was REM, immediately cut off and replaced with "If 60s Were 90s". Weird.
-
Oooh, a song following 10@10 that did not make me instantly change to another source of tunage: "If 60's Were 90's".

Stream or Radio? I did not notice that on the radio, but then, I'm writing code at the same time which sometimes means I don't notice alot.

I found part of the documentary on YouTube. It's pretty fascinating, if you watch the whole thing. But then again, I like this kinda stuff!
If you wanna skip all the technichal stuff (and why wouldya?) they talk about the bass-less thing around the 2.50 mark.
