just like the old days?
ETA: some good suggestions on FB (kudos Swellegant for the "Zabadak" request). But the OMG-just-shoot-me-now quote of the evening (so far) goes to the Fogette who said "White Rabbit" was too obvious, so she was asking for "Somebody to Love" instead...

kudos Swellegant for the "Zabadak" request
I really hope AL does play Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky Mick and Tich. Love this bit of Trivia:
Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich were involved in one of the more spectacular record cover blunders in rock history.
In 1981, Polydor in Italy (Orbis) put out a huge series of albums called Historia De La Musica Rock ("The History of Rock Music") with one or two volumes for each of about a hundred different artists. The volume by the Dave Clark Five came out with the cover featuring a group photo of Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick and Tich! Speculation about how this kind of quality control gaffe could occur was that the photos were all in an alphabetically arranged set of folders, and when reaching in to the "Dave Clark Five" folder, a hand accidentally reached into the folder behind it, which was "Dave Dee." Or the photo could have been accidentally misfiled in the adjacent folder. But the really funny part of the situation was that nobody noticed the error until the album was in the stores! By then, they just figured, "Ignore it. No one will notice."

this one is sorta bold-ish. I Had Too Much To Dream Last Night leads off the excellent Nuggets box set.

BOS2 Psychedelic Pstones

I still suspect Timmy Leary was a CIA plant.
10-way BOS, though, especially Pstones.

nice to have ya back, bub.

It appears this will last longer than 30 minutes, always a good thing.
-
Duuuuude!, we're like, TOTALLY tripping!
-
BOS, Traffic.
sing a song, play guitar, make it snappy

Lost stream after Lucy, what else besides Prunes?

Dear Mr. Fantasy is on right now. Which Pstones song was it? She's a Rainbow would be my guess, if we're staying in the acid-tinged motif.

you are correct, sir!

Well, at least one of my requests gets played... back from when the Bee Gees would have been considered "Alt Lite".
-
BOS3 Bonnie & Clyde
BOS4 BeeGees in the mines.
-
Actually, has there been any band with more gearshifts than this one?
-
Another BOS to Donovan. Sarah McLachlan had an interesting cover of this, many years later.
-
BOS5 Donovan.

Your stream is a minute-plus ahead of mine. I adore "Wear Your Love Like Heaven."

actually, they were considered "Beatles imitators"

Yep, it's called a radio. ;D

Agreed. BOS 2 (i'm being stingy - not a bad song in the lot so far).
-
she gets --- she gets --- HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGH!!
-
BOS5 Jimi.
-

Nice that she played that version. The word "high" is usually omitted, no?
BOS BeeGees & Donovan, so far.

BOS 3, Jimi.

Agreed - if I had to give a WOS it'd be to the leadoff song, but only because it's overplayed.

Best '60s set since the "new guidelines" kicked in. This one did NOT sound like Oldies 103.7...
...well, until "White Rabbit" showed up. (but given the theme, it was inevitable)
-
White Rabbit is this set's Katrina (along with the Beatles), but it does fit the theme.
-
kudos Swellegant for his "on fire" reference on FB.

It's alright by me. Another classic I don't really tire of. But then, I don't spend all that much time listening to oldies radio, and I didn't spend that much time at top 40 stations when I was young. And it's short.

OMG! Chambers Bros! Hope Geoff got his stream back. The looong version? Psychedelicized BOS6 either way.

Uber BOS!!! Hope it's Dave's super-edit, but that seems unlikely.
-

Well, this is the best set I've heard in a good while. Probably the best of the DC era.
And to think how grouchy we were after that 1997 set.

Indeed. Which raises the question of why it can't be at least semi-interesting all the time/more often than not. Why can Dred play "Walk on By" at 8pm while 10@10 seems to be getting micromanaged? It really defies logic, IMHO.
Also, this is the first time we've gotten a '70s and a '60s set in the same week in about a month, I think
-
yay! today's set was pretty good.
I have to correct Al, though: she misquoted that Don Pardo clip they used to play.
It actually went
"Now I ask you: For hits like these, who you gonna call?"

I never got the stream back, and I can't stay up until 1:00 AM out here either! Did they play the long version? Also, finally true justice, as this was a huge hit here in '67, even though the rest of the country was '68. By 'here' I mean 'there' back in the Bay Area, where I'm currently not!
my first concert of any size (December '67):

yes they played the lo-o-o-o-o-ng version, the one that takes lots of Time to unfold and seep through your psychodaelicized skull and into your brain crevasses. I'm sure you've been there!

How well-known were the Good Rats in Rochester in '79? They were HUGE on Lawn Guyland, of course. They really shoulda been big big stars.

Pretty well known... They had several songs in regular rotation on the rock station, like Hey Injun Joe, Tasty, and You're Still Doin It. They still play around NYS - though the band is pretty much singer Peppy Marchelllo and some guys, including one of his sons - and will be in Rochester on Oct 8. Yes, they should have been bigger. They were fun live.

The only reason I know them, is the guitarist with the big nose used to play one of my guitars, long, long ago!
