it's either a '70s day or a '90s thang, it would seem.
'70s win out -- mah-mo-yeah!
-
2 'trinas in a row has become the AL method, I guess, but I'm a little burned out on Dixie, dear.

I still can't complain about the Raspberries, even though it brings back painful Mondegreen memories of thinking he was saying "Baby, please go away!"

Me too!

BOS for Sanford and Son, which has an awesome theme.
-
3 in a row from the never-again list: EJ becomes a fonky honky.

I've lost the stream...
-
BOSanford. I'm coming, Elizabeth!
I loved Aunt Esther and Grady.
Is that Up With (White & Rich) People doing the "Nixon Now" commercial?
BOS2 O'Jays

ah, Marilyn McCoo coos that she's an insomniac.
... which is a perfect segue into Joey Heatherton messing up the sheets in her Perfect Serta commercial
and the puns keep on coming! The Lion Sleeps Tonight nyuk nyuk.. of should I just say yuck?

"last nite I couldn't get to sleep... this woman kept pounding on my door for hours. Finally, I had to get up and let her out..."

"Lion Sleeps Tonight" is a huge zeitgeist song for me. Big BOS.
And I'll give another to Don McLean, I actually haven't heard this in a really long time.
Do y'all know what the reference to The Levee being dry is about?
-
I was pissed to lose the stream until I found out I'm missing "Lion Sleeps Tonite" (!) and "American Pie" -- talk about songs I never need to hear again. WOS Robert John

clearly you never listen to Oldies 103.7 ;)

ELP RULES!!!!

ELP RULES!!!!
I'll second that emotion. Saw them at Concord Pavilion about 20 years ago (plus a concert ad from 1974)

Oh, the cacophony. My goodness!

Wow, such a huge BOS from me, a song I had asked Dave to play several times in a Strictly Instrumental set, and then he didn't even do one for the last 2+ years of his tenure.
In the King Biscuit live version Keith goes even faster than on the album version.

maybe he wanted to go swimming? but a levee is a wall of earth, right? not the actual spatial area where you actually swim.. weird.
I just found this awesome (older) headline
Levee Goes Dry as "American Pie" Tavern Loses Liquor License

*crickets*
did everybody get bored?
This was a good set for the stream to crap out on me -- seems AL has to have one day a week where she hits overplayed chart hits real hard.
best I can say is that the 5-D tune is a bustout -- in fact amazingly Dave NEVER played them, at least not in the years covered by the shraytabase.
Now the question is, why did 3 different sources of the stream not work for me (the WMP link here, the player on the KFOG homepage and the older Cumulus player that Giter Dunn posted a link to)? If Kaiser has blocked the KFOG stream I will be mighty pissed.
ETA: ah, I see we got an ELP bustout too. Kudos on that but overall... sheesh.

I still have this poster rolled up at home

I have not thought of SSP in 35 years!

that was the Aaron Copeland composition?
Oh my heavens, All Down The Line shows up and takes away ALL the BOSes, bitches!
-
I think I had the Ram Jam, and one of my brothers had the Deuces Wild.
I'll retract my earlier BOSes, and just stick to one for ELP & one more for the Stones.
"All Down the Line" was a request for the 33 1/3 slot that Annalisa played last week or the week before.

A sledgehammery '72 set, nice job AL !

there you go. That was obvious... which is why it was only worth $200.
I had to google 'Kathie Lee Gifford's Today Show' to get Sunday's answer. I suppose I'm grateful I didn't know that one off the top of my head! :)

Normally I'd be thoroughly bummed about missing a '72 set, but based on what I can put together from your recap most of these were songs I've heard plenty already. I'd have likely BOS'd the ELP tune and Marilyn McCoo, although our local oldie station plays that one occasionally.
One thing: was the TOTHK the Raspberries or Badfinger? I thought "Dixie dear" was mentioned in Baby Blue. And since no one mentioned the song by name.... ???

yeah, it was 'berries as the TOTHKatrina, followed by "Baby Blue" and "Honky Cat"... at which point I lost the stream (still not working on my end, BTW). I know it's cranky to bitch when there were 2 bustouts, but they were surrounded by some overexposed hits -- "American Pie", yikes, and the dreadful Robert John was just unforgiveable.
ETA: the stream is back.
