No clues so far, but I'm wondering if we'll get a Tax Day set next Friday, and Earth Day the following week.
-
AL sez it's "10 great songs for one great City", in honor of Giants' home opening day. So long as it doesn't turn into a "put me in, coach" baseball set, I'm down with that.

I prefer the gay softball version, "put it IN, coach!"
I suspect this set may contain recycled material ;) Hoping for the Village People; dreading Journey. Oy.
-
Sittin' on the Dock of the 'Trina. Yeah, yeah, a classic, whatevs.
-
TOTHK didn't cook. Sorry, Otis.
-
Surprise BOS: Phoebe Snow's version of "SF Bay Blues". Nice.
damn, we're in a mellow mood today: VHM Mr Cheekbones, "SF Days".
-

Yawn. And another yawn for Mr. Isaak. This set's supposed to get people excited about baseball?
-
Seems like it's a good chance for an all-Katrina set. Chris Isaak bunts a single by mentioning the city's name a million times.
Please please please NOOOO, when the lights go down. Ugh, turning it off.
-
well, as long as it's an all-Katrina set, this old hippie can hope for Scott McKenzie! Journey, not so much

actually, no -- the home opener is just an excuse to play SF songs. Snoozy ones, apparently. WOS Journey.

hear that? He said we were beautiful!

Based on the games I've been to, Giants fans have a generally bad taste in music so you should have expected this set to Titanic.
(Before you get all upset, that applies to all baseball fans.)

BOS2 Animals -- even if it ain't very warm today.
FB Foghead post of the day: "Chris Isaak - kinda sound a lil' like Roy Orbison but only better."
-
I thought I hear a digital glitch near the end of the song.
-
can't remember seeing this before, was it the original sleeve? Cheezy!

Yeah, Mr. Burdon, I might not bring up that "American Dream" thing to the Indians; it might be, y'know, a sore spot.

True. But I find that the Giants and A's -- whoever is in charge of music at each park, that is -- are among the least creative in MLB. I mean, I don't think I've ever heard Tower of Power at a game in Oakland, for example.
here's yer old hippie music, Geoff.

Not sure where this "live" Tony B is from (MTV?) but BOS3.
-
zzzzzzzzzzzzz
-
Rice-A-Roni -- the sodium-saturated treat!
AAAAAAAAAACK! Train! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
-
"til I made some tender coin"? Worst rhyme of set.
-

I thought the original was live.
-
Rice-A-Roni -- the sodium-saturated treat!
AAAAAAAAAACK! Train! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I was going to post something like I've avoided learning who this is, sounds kind of Train-ish
and Mike has proactively educated me!
-
Oh, the humanity...

Oh, the humanity...
;) :D ;D

Franti seals it: I've bailed on the set. Have a nice weekend, all.
-
BOS Fever Tree.
WOS this Michael Franti. More annoying than Lights, than Train, than Eric's burden.

The first dozen times I heard it, it was such a reflief that it wasn't "Hey 'Ho Blistah" that I kinda overpraised it as a decent Stones cop. But as gaz pointed out: "Tenderloin/Tender coin" is just cringeworthy.
-
to be fair, the end of this live Franti thing makes more sense than the rest of the song for the theme.

But how many times did he say "hey mama"? 23? My head nearly exploded there.
-
BOS, Otis on the Dock of the Bay. Concentrating on the instumentation this time through. There's subtle flair deep in there.

quite possibly, but I wasn't around to hear it! I bailed on the set, too... ;D
-
I brought a NY Dolls Best-of CD to work today and boy do I need it now...

our band plays this song, and it's not trivial at all! The bass line at the beginning is smooth, but not easy to play.
-
FYI, AL posted the Village People as a FB "extra". put yer mind at ease, indeed.
-
Train on TV right now reprising their 10@10 appearance

HA! I avoided both getting Speared and the Train-wreck. I totally called this one as headed downhill. To me, this was WSOAT (Worst Set of All Time). When I think San Francisco, I think Dead Kennedies and not Train. Not taking any chances on this set, it was all cheeze.
Looking forward to 1990, 84, and 74 replays tomorrow.

I missed the set, and it doesn't appear I should be regretful.
However, I don't think it's as bad as some of the Ka-Boom! (haven't heard anything about that this year by the way) or the Live From The Archives sets. At least today they weren't pimping anything.

The songs of the Ka-Boom set actually weren't bad, it was just doomed by principle. Anyway, Ka-Boom is having "technical difficulties" & they're looking at pushing it back to September, if it even happens this year. :( The Piers aren't safe anymore (although they're trying to fix that, may not be 'til next year though) and last year's was not well attended enough to have it at Candlestick again.

Hadn't even thought about Kaboom, but you're right. They'd be hyping it by now if it were happening in mid-May.

The order of the Sat morning replay: the SF set followed by 1990, 1974, 1984 and the Mystery Year (1967).
