You knew AL was gonna do a Gerry Ferraro set sooner than later.
Someone requested Echo's "Killing Moon" (yay!) but also asked for "When Doves Cry"... which AL played last time, in that very Moreyesque set that made a few of us grumpy.
Meanwhile someone else wants the dreaded "Oh Sherrie"...
-
I chose five top 40 hits that to my knowledge have never appeared on 10@10.

"Lights Out" is a possibility, given AL's love of all things Bostonian.
And yes, we have requests for Yes. And "Sister Christian".
-
Today being April 4, AL will probably play U2's "MLK" or "Pride" from '84's The Unforgettable Fire:
"Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride"
-

Gosh, that would sound really good today. "Ooooozone!!" "Ooooozone!!" That's what I used to think he was singing.
-
Not sure I've heard "Head Over Heels" since 1984.
-
BOS Go-Gos, "Head Over Heels". Sly sexual comment optional.

It's Go-Gos by numbers, but it's delightful and perky. What I need on a Monday. BOS.
-
It's a cruel cruel AL-trina. (or so it seems to me)
-
VHM to Bananarama's "Karate Kid" song.
-
Last summer TIME.com ran a listicle of summer songs, and in the entry for "Cruel Summer," referred to Bananarama as a one-hit wonder. I nearly blew a gasket. Thankfully they rewrote it at my insistence.

The Go-Go's are touring this summer, all five members, will be in SF 8/16

at least they didn't call them "those 3 talentless slags" as someone (Julie Burchill?) writing for The Face did at the time..
VHM relatively rare Billy Idol.

That's great (the re-write)!
Woohoo for Billy Idol!
-
Blue Highway is NTM.
-
HM Billy's Blue Highway, a lesser played cut from Rebel Yell. Not as good as FFF or EWAF, but it's got Steve Stevens! I saw him (and Steve) in December at the Fillmore and really enjoyed it.
-
BOS2 Siouxie!

-
what a voice Siouxsie has here. funny how the music sounds fast but her voice sounds slow.
-
BOS3 the Pointers -- AL's been neglecting pop/soul in the '80s. Betcha we get a "Jump" twin-spin with VH to follow.
-
Oakland's own:

Giant BOS for Repo Man! One of my favorite movies that I haven't seen for years and years.

Thank goodness not.

a "lattice of coincidence"? WTF?
proxy of shray, Simple Minds.
ETA: should've realized it was Repo man, referenced on AL's FB thread.

I thought for a moment it was from a John Hughes movie, but when I heard "acid" I changed my mind. I've never seen Pretty In Pink, and have it in my Netflix queue. Looking forward to it and OMD and all that. :P
Simple Minds sure mastered that epic production sound. BOS I assume this is called To The Waterfall?
ETA: I misheard him, he's going to "walk on up to the waterfront."
TANC: couldn't sleep last night, popped in my headphones and heard TLC's Waterfalls. Great song, and will join RGM in requesting it when the right year comes around.

hello hello... hello?

"WaterFRONT" actually. You coulda been a contender, TC.

I was surprised to hear my first two fb suggestions played at the beginning as I was driving around!
-
uber-BOS4 Bangles, "Hero Takes a Fall".
-

I'm totally unfamiliar with this cut but enjoyed the Hendrixesque volleys at the beginning by Steve Stevens.

This set is way better than I remember 1984, though I do appreciate most of the music quite a bit more now than I did then.
-
we are we are we are hearing a Katrina. Icicle doesn't Work(s) for me.

I liked Hangman.

This song holds a special place in my heart: when I discovered MP3s and P2P file sharing, I showed a cow orker how it worked and he asked if I could locate this song. I did and neither of us have bought a CD since!
(Just kidding, we both deleted the file within 24-hours and then went out and purchased a full-price retail CD at a brick-and-mortar record store.)
Might as well ...be listening to The Bone or The Bland or The Fox!
-
I love VH's "Jump" but only this version:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjx_GjyXCs4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mjx_GjyXCs4)
I never get tired of seeing Eddie frantically trying to tune his guitar while fans cheer for the most awful noise ever. Ohhohoho.
Pick your favorite conspiracy theory:

If we have to hear 1984 Van Halen, why not "Hot For Teacher"?
-
Very nice set overall. Heard lots of songs that were new to me. Most unnecessary: "whisper to a scream", but that's a MoreyMemory for me so that's ok. I look forward to hearing the full thing during tonight's replay.
