RGMike, you can still be the first to request "Sister Christian"!
But you're too late to provide the first "Drive" request.

Think we'll hear any Prince? I'd actually love "Darling Nikki", maybe the only song from that LP that's never been played on 10@10.

Won't that require a little bleepage to be acceptable for radio?

Well, Tipper Gore thought so. But I do remember it being played by some alt-rock stations back in the day, uncensored. What's a little masturbation between friends?

Friends - how many of us have them? My WTH Whodini request for '84. I won't be able to listen this morning anyway since I'm working at the school. I'm looking forward to reading the snark comments. My favorite year in music too. Waaaah. :'(

Hello, 1984 again.
Geoff gets his request for "Trina, Trina" ;)

VHM Mac 1984
Herz yer Prince. they feel the heat between me and you.
-
When "Doves" are overplayed, Mike cries.

There are better Prince options.
-
BOS When Doves Cry. I didn't go see Prince last night, but my SO did. Apparently he started off his set with Delirious, sort of a Muppet song, IMHO.

Yeah, it got played back then, but that was long "wardrobe malfunctions" and slipped expletives spurred the FCC to levy huge fines.
Today's set sticking pretty close to the charts again. Methinks the new PD is sticking his nose into our business.

You gotta pay to play. ;)

Wouldn't it be good if she played "The Riddle" instead of this Katrina?
-
BOS "Doctor Doctor." HM to Nik Kershaw and to what may have been the last great Bowie single.
-

indeed. Most Fogheads won't notice/will actually be happy. Here's an old Moreytrina that actually hasn't been heard much lately: BOS Nik K.
-
I'm dozing off.......zzzzzzzzzzz...........

Mmm hmm. I'm digging most of the songs here well enough, but the sum of the parts is not making a whole, in this case. I know she's done a few mainstream-ish sets before (a previous 1984 set comes to mind, though that was a B-day set) but todays does set up a red flag, so far.
-

You read my mind! I was thisclose to mentioning "The Riddle", which I surely have not heard in a dog's age.
-
BOS2 Chrissie, making something worthwhile out of one of my least favorite soul songs ever.

And as someone pointed out last week, comments are down on AL's FB page.

Heading into snooze-fest. It's a thin line.......

Meaning Fogheads are not posting because (presumably) they're not as excited about the song selections.
But those who are posting are happy as clams:
"Can I just say, you are smokin' today, Annalisa! The hits keep coming! Wouldn't it be good if this went on all day??"
"She is picking some great ones this morning"

Meaning listeners are not posting many comments on this set. There were about five a couple minutes ago, 24 minutes into the set.

Heading into snooze-fest.
But Bono's wide awake! ;)
-
No clear BOS candidate so far, but several HMs: the Kershaw, Pretenders & U2 to be specific.
-
I have to give most unnecessary of set to U2 due to being a Channel 92.3 overplay, and one that sounds mighty out of place over there, at that.
...and with this generic sounding REM song, the thin line has officially been crossed...

The U2 track seems to have lit a fire under a few of the regulars. Another handful of posts since I last looked.
BOS REM, just 'cause.

Mary Lou Retton: I prefer National Lampoon's "Gymnasty" track, featuring Brian Doyle-Murray.
here's a snippet. http://www.emusic.com/samples/m3u/song/10998025/14933487.m3u
What's a "fish hop?"

VHM REM
This is quite Moreyesque, on one of his slightly bored phoning-it-in days. And SRV seals the deal.
-
Heading into snooze-fest.
But Bono's wide awake! ;)
Even that was snoozy.
-
WOS to SRV's blooz. As usual.
-
I know the white man blooze don't thrill many around here, but I'll BOSRV.

SRV good but still sloooooowwwwwww.. I feel naughty naughty today. Now thinking about Slowhand and Darling Nikki. 1984 appropriate.

Not a fan of "Absolute Beginners"? or are we talking hit singles (which "AB" really wasn't in this country)?
-
Hello, 1984 again.
Geoff gets his request for "Trina, Trina" ;)
Jeez, has it really been played that much? What about the title track?

Any Thompson Twins song is always welcome in my book. You Take Me Up is a song off of Into The Gap that I love. :)

Not really. Doctor Doctor is the second-most-played TT song, but The Gap far outdistances it, 10 plays to 5 in the Morey era.
-
When 1989 rolls around I'll have to request "Sugar Daddy" by TT. Haven't heard that in ages.

AB is good-but-not-great in my book. Still hard to believe that his last Top 40 appearance was "Day In, Day Out."

Actually, "Never Let Me Down" went Top 40 shortly after, but your point still stands.

Absolutely! My favorite of their entire catalogue.

I favor "Olay Your Hands", myself

Much as I love that one too, my favorite remains their title theme for the movie "Nothing in Common." (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLIaitC5FLI) I still don't know why it flopped on the charts.

OK, finally listened to this set this morning. C'mon, it wasn't that bad! Tough crowd...sheesh. ;)

Yeah, we're spoiled -- AL has been so fabulous for nearly 2 years (without management interference) that anything less-than-stellar seems... wrong. This set wasn't as bad as the '81 set last week but it was very Moreyesque.
