When was the last time we Did the Rock? Stimulating, stimulating!
Aside to Sundaygal: AL tipped the year with a gif of Eat to the Beat's cover art, so chances are good we'll hear some of your namesake's band.
Meanwhile, Fogheads are requesting Katrinas a-plenty: the Car, the Police, and would you believe The Logical Song? Not to mention Boney M! Oh, the humanity...
-
Indeed, Fogheads make me weep for our future.
I couldn't decide between disco and New Wave, but figured the latter was more in AL's wheelhouse, so:
XTC, "Ten Feet Tall"
Shoes, "Too Late"
and anything from Rachel Sweet's Fool Around.
-
I have to admit that I'd love to hear Boney M on 10@10. Has that happened yet?

Not in the Morey era, and certainly not since AL took over. And since I consider Boney M one of the worst groups in recorded history, I hope we keep that record intact. ;)

Yes, definitely a great idea! Brown Girl in the Ring!

They're a bit of a personal sledgehammer, I'll admit. To each their own.

The thing is, most Americans only know "Rivers of Babylon" and (maybe) "Mary's Boy Child" which are, being covers, at least bearable. The rest of their output -- 14 Top 40 hits in the UK! -- is some of the most execrable Eurotrash disco ever, like "Ma Baker", their ode to Ma Barker, whose name they couldn't be bothered to spell correctly, and the hideous "Rasputin" ("Rah-Rah-Rah-spew-teen"). Truly one HFH after another. Absolute dreck.

Nice variety there, Ali !
-
Best rhyme of set: "restaurant / debutante." And oh, that all-over-the-map drumming. BOS Blondie.

and lo... it came to pass. BOS1 "Dreaming"
-
VHM "Cool For Cats"
BOS2 Nick Lowe -- props for it not being "Cruel to be Trina"
-
VHM "Cool For Cats"
I didn't know there was a l-o-n-g version - I think my version on the singles CD was missing that instrumental part?
-
Best movie line of set: the Muppet Movie and Hare Krishna.
Worst line of set: "on a sea in an ocean of emotion"
-
BOS1 Nick Lowe. Love cracking up
-
BOS3 Kinks. But a bustout or 2 would be nice.
-
Love the funereal opening to
"Superman." CMNIF (sorry, not awake yet)
-
Worst line of set: "on a sea in an ocean of emotion"
I always heard it as "all-at-sea in an ocean of emotion" which would be more clever than redundant.
-
The songs on The Kinks Low Budget album sure resonate these days: Catch Me Now I'm Falling, Low Budget, Gallon of Gas, National Health, Wish I Could Fly Like Superman.
-
Jenny was sweet
there is no elite
she had smelly feet
or something. S'n'tT get my least-necessary award today.
-
No matter how Katrina-esque it may be, I'll never get tired of "Driver's Seat." VHM.

WOS to Toto's fat-faced oversinging on "Hold the Line."

Did ya hear Toto is playing next year's Super Bowl halftime?! ;)
-
Toe(to) the Line. So, sometimes love is late? WTF?
-
Did ya hear Toto is playing next year's Super Bowl halftime?! ;)
amazingly, The Sound didn't play this in their football-themed set last Friday.
-
Satellite in Coalinga. No memory of that. Porno costs more!? What?
-
"video-cass-ette recorders"- what'll they think of next?
-
"video CASS-ette recorders" -- porno costs more! Bwahaha!
BOS3 - OMD - 'tricity - don'cha see?
-
This new wavey tune is new to me. Reminds me of Men w/o Hats' "Pop Goes the World."
-
BOS3 - OMD - 'tricity - don'cha see?
Ah, I shoulda guessed.
Considering seeing them in NYC or Boston in early March.
-
I think she played this OMD last time (or before) in '79, but it still sounds pretty awesome. BOS.
They're coming to the Fox theater in Oakland this spring too! :)
-
Least necessary that is not Toto: Pop Pop Pop Muzik.
-
oh, M -- die "Pop Muzik" wir singen
-

all over the world, wherever you are. They're playing our song again.

I Zimbra... love this THeads album
ETA: Brian Eno has a writing credit on this one. This was when he was basically the fifth Talking Head, controlling their album sound along with David Byrne.

well, if you were marooned with Sting, I think all that tantric sex would be quite useful.
