Title: 3 Dec 2010: It's... 1987!!!
Post by: sundaygal on December 02, 2010, 04:54:46 PM
Love '87!  Let's see what happens...

I've requested my favorite Prince song, I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man and Hope Road by Anne Clark (a LIVE 105 fave from back in the day).

I'll request "Soul City" by the Partland Brothers, along with Hipsway's "The Honeythief".

Someone actually asked for Robbie Nevil "C'est la Vie"  ::)

I second the Prince -- anything from that fab LP besides "Sign o' the Times" would please me. I also asked for Aretha & George "I Knew You Were Waiting" and Swingout Sister.

I could see Swingout Sister being played, not so sure about the other ones. The "C'est La Vie" chooser generally picks songs that are beyond Katrinas, but seems like a friendly enough individual.

Jane's gettin' serious about ketchup.  VHM to one that was expected, as it got multiple FB requests.

yes, she's very sweet -- and in the midst of a katrinish list for '68 the other day, she asked for Patti Drew's "Workin on a Groovy Thing", which floored me.

BOS (and proxy of Gaz) PSBs w/Dusty. Too Too fabulous.

I actually like a lot of his songwriting, when covered by others -- Rodney Crowell's version of "She Loves the Jerk" is one I need to put on my wish-list for whatever year that's from.

I can agree w this.  He writes some interesting songs, tells good stories, but I don't dig his intonation or vocal texture.  I'll chk out that Rodney Crowell song.

Sheena Easton was HAWT!  big crush on her and her Sugar Walls.

I'll give a BOS to Los Lobos, even though when I saw them in 1985 at the Bayou Club in Wash DC, and I kept yelling out my request for Diablo Con Vestido Azul, they ignored me.  I'm still waiting.. :(  Less Bertha, more Diablo, por favor.

I think I'll have to request Donna Allen's "Serious" for a future 1987 10@10.
